1 School of Engineering Admission Guidance Notice for Academic Year Second Level Degree Course in Environmental Engineering in the English language - Class LM-35 - Second Level Degree Class in Environmental Engineering Registration is now open for the Second Level Degree Course in Environmental Engineering in the English languagefor the Academic Year In order to register for the Degree Course, the applicant must have: a) a degree or a three-year university diploma or other qualifications obtained from a foreign country, recognized as an equivalent in accordance with current legislation concerning the degree or a three-year university diploma; b) the minimum academic requirements as indicated in paragraph 2 of this notice. Graduates from Italian universities, who will obtain their degree by 16 October 2015, can register for this course, prior to 11 December 2015 (during the academic year) or by 26 February 2016 (while the academic year is in progress). In all cases the applicant is required to fill in the on-line pre-registration application as outlined in paragraph 3 of this notice. The complete application form for this degree course is available at: The average length of the course is 2 years and students must earn 120 University Educational Credits (CFUs). At the conclusion of the program students will receive a Second Level Degree Course in Environmental Engineering. All lessons will be conducted in the English language. 1. DEGREE COURSE The degree course includes the following: Unrestricted access with requirements for EU citizens and non-eu citizens legally residing in Italy; 5 openings for non-eu citizens residing abroad, 3 of which is reserved for Chinese citizens participating in the Marco Polo scheme. 2 After deliberation, students desiring to receive a Master s Degree in " Environmental Engineering", will now be able to register for the part-time study scheme/system. The pre-registration application (mandatory), referred to in paragraph 3, must be submitted by the applicants who already have one of the qualifications referred to in subparagraph a) mentioned in the introduction, and by applicants who expect to complete their degree during the academic year. 2. VERIFICATION OF REQUIREMENTS FOR COURSE ADMISSION 1) Students wishing to register for the Master s of Science in ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING must meet specific academic requirements demonstrating that they possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities: - Adequate knowledge of basic subjects, such as mathematical and numerical analysis, linear algebra and geometry, chemistry and physics, as well as the subjects specific to the degree course, hydraulic engineering and hydrology, environmental health engineering, construction and geotechnical engineering. - The ability to use the operational methodological aspects of mathematics and other basic sciences to interpret and describe engineering problems, in addition to describing the problems of protected areas, setting up and conducting experiments, analyzing and interpreting extrapolated data and comprehending the impact of engineering solutions in both the social and physical environment. The student s knowledge, skills and abilities will be evaluated in the manner described in the paragraph below. 2. The necessary academic requirements are as follows: a) have a degree in class(es) L-7 "Civil and Environmental Engineering" covered by former Ministerial Decree (D.M.) no. 270/04 or a degree in class(es) 8 Civil and Environmental Engineering covered by former Ministerial Decree (D.M.) no. 509/99, or alternatively, earning a predetermined number University Educational Credits (CFUs) in the following Fields of Study (SSDs): CFU SSD 12 MAT/03, MAT/05, MAT/08 5 CHIM/07 5 FIS/01 26 ICAR/01, ICAR/02, ICAR/03, ICAR/07, ICAR/08 NOTE For graduates holding a degree in classes L-9 Industrial Engineering, L-8 Information Engineering, with the equivalent mark/grade either equal or superior to 105/110, the CFUs shown in the SSD table do not apply. b) have a working knowledge of ENGLISH at the B1 Level. For graduates with a high level of preparation, resulting from the knowledge and skills certified in their degree course track, from training courses which are not completely consistent with admissions requirements, students may initially choose a different path and/or specific admissions entrance exam. For applicants holding an Italian degree, different from those covered by Ministerial Decree (D.M.) no. 509/99 and Ministerial Decree (D.M.) no. 270/2004, or who have qualifications obtained from a foreign country, eligibility will be determined by the Board of Admissions. 3. For the purposes of admission, the student s knowledge, skills and abilities, referred to in paragraph 1, will be evaluated according to the following criteria: - a minimum graduation mark/grade for admission, equal to 84/110 or its equivalent. 2

3 Regarding those students, who have obtained their degree from studies abroad, the verification referred to in this paragraph shall be implemented in accordance with the criteria established by the Aggregate Degree Board (CCLA). 3. ON-LINE PRE-REGISTRATION AND EVENTUAL REQUESTS FOR A MINIMUM ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS ENTRANCE EXAM 3.1 On-line pre-registration Applicants have until 12:00 p.m., on 30 September 2015, to complete the application form (by said deadline). Please pay particular attention when filling in personal data (i.e. name, place of residence, etc.) thereby ensuring proper identification of yourself. At the end of the registration procedure the candidate will receive a user name and an activation code to use whenever he or she is connected to the following website in order to select the three security questions and your password, giving you instant access to the Reserved Area. During this procedure you are required to insert the degree to be used for access to the degree course you have selected. If you are not already in the system, any difficulties which might arise can be reported at the following website imma.uniweb@unipd.it. After the final confirmation of the on-line admissions application you can print out a summary, which will indicate the form of MAV (Pagamento Mediante Avviso) allowing you to pay the fee of This payment can be made at any Financial Institution. In the event that you elect to make a payment from another country you must use the Bank Transfer form found on the following website. The Bank Transfer Form is available at: in the section Preregistration bank transfer form. THIS WEBSITE IS ONLY FOR RECEIVING PAYMENTS FROM OUTSIDE OF ITALY. Once the deadline of 12:00 p.m., on 30 September 2015 has passed, the link will be deactivated and it will no longer be possible to complete the application form. 4 3.2 Evaluation of the minimum academic requirements Graduates (or undergraduates) attending one of these degree courses that permits direct access to the chosen master s degree course (see paragraph 2) When the minimum educational requirements for admission to the Master of Science program are satisfied, students just need to fill out the on-line pre-registration application form. After the final confirmation of the admissions application you can print out a summary which will indicate the form of MAV allowing you to pay the fee of This payment can be made at any Financial Institution. Please remember that this MAV payment is only valid for one admissions application and is uniquely associated with one course of study. Students who plan to graduate by 26 February 2016 can apply for pre-registration, including the possible request for evaluation of minimum curricular requirements, which also starts from February 1 and ends on 29 February, 2016, according to the procedures described in this paragraph. 4. MINIMUM REQUIREMENT ASSESSMENT RESULTS FOR ON-LINE REGISTRATION APPLICATIONS 4

5 4.1 Graduates by 16 October 2015 Applicants meeting minimum requirements, may proceed to the registration application form by following the steps listed below as outlined in paragraph 2. Applicants may proceed with their registration only after: having verified the Suitable outcome of their registration application "suitable" found in their reserved area in Uniweb; having verified the insertion of their graduation degree data in Uniweb. Graduates attending other universities should update their own private area in Uniweb. Data entry is possible even at a later time during the submission of the pre-registration application. The registration procedure consists of two phases: the first phase requires the compilation of the on-line application, which can be done starting from a minimum number of pre-registrations required for activation of the individual courses (which will be announced at ) and by 12:00 p.m., on 28 September 2015; after which the candidate can book a day and time to personally hand in the required documents to the Registration Office, located in Padua (PD) - Via Venezia 13. The second phase requires the candidate hand in the completed registration application form to the above mentioned office. Applicants may proceed with their registration only after: having verified the suitable outcome of their registration application "suitable" found in their reserved area in Uniweb; having verified the insertion of their graduation degree data in Uniweb. Graduates attending other universities should update their own private area in Uniweb. Data entry is possible even at a later time during the submission of the pre-registration application. Applicants may proceed to the registration process starting from 8 February 2016, by p.m., ending on 14 March 2016 (deadline date) by following the procedures already described in paragraph 4.1. The documentation must be hand delivered to the Registration Window at Student Affairs Office (Servizio Segreterie Studenti), located at Lungargine Piovego 2/3, Padua (PD). The admission of foreign students is governed by the Circular from the Ministry of Education, University and Research protocol no. 7802, dated 24 March 2015, ( link universitàstudenti- studenti stranieri), after having passed the necessary exams. Registration applications cannot be accepted unless they adhere to the guidelines stipulated in this notice. 5. SPECIAL CASES For acknowledgement of credits for the Academic Year 2015/2016, applicants must submit an preregistration application form as outlined in paragraph 3.1, and the assessment application for the evaluation of the minimum academic requirements and acknowledgement of credits referred to in paragraph 3.2. Regarding the decision relative to the application, the Commission will indicate the year of admission. 5.1 Those admitted to the 1st year of the course with acknowledgement of credits Once having been admitted to the University, the applicants that: are not registered for another course of study: must present a registration application in accordance with the procedures described in paragraph 4 of this notice; are registered for another course of study at the University: must submit an application for change of course (forms are available at the following website: 6

7 sede?target=studenti ) or withdrawal from the previous academic major (forms are available at the following website ) with a contextual registration application respecting the terms stipulated in paragraph 4 of this notice; are registered for another course of study at another University: o if they intend to proceed with the transfer request, applicants must submit their applications to the University where they are currently studying. Afterward, they must hand carry it to the Registration Office, located in Via Venezia, 13 Padua (PD); in order to complete the registration application form for the course in accordance with the terms stipulated in paragraph 4 of this notice; o If they intend to withdraw from their course of study at the University where they are currently studying, they must submit a withdrawal application form to said institution, along with the registration application form for the University of Padua in accordance with the terms descried in paragraph 4 of this notice. o All requested documentation must be submitted within the period specified in paragraph 4 of this notice and delivered exclusively to the Registration Office, located in Via Venezia, 13 Padua (PD), under penalty of forfeiting the right to register. 5.2 Those admitted to the 2nd year of the course with acknowledgement of credits Admission to the second year is decided based upon the evaluation of the minimum academic requirements. Once having been admitted to the University of Padua, the candidates that: are not currently registered for another course of study: must submit a registration application by 28 October 2015 to the Registration Office, located in Via Venezia, 13 Padua (PD) (forms are available at the following website are currently registered for another course of study at the University: must submit an application for change of course (forms are available at the following website ) at the referenced Student Administration Office, by 28 October 2015, or withdraw from the previous field of study (forms are available at website ) with a contextual registration application (forms are available at at the Registration Office, located in Via Venezia, 13 Padua (PD) prior to the same deadline of 28 October 2015; are registered for another course of study at another University: o they must submit a transfer application to the University where they are currently studying. NOMINATION OF THE HEAD OF COMPETITIVE ADMISSIONS PROCEDURES Under Article 4, of Law no. 241, dated 7 August 1990 (New regulations governing administrative procedures and the right of access to administrative documents), and subsequent amendments, the Chairman of the Examining Board was appointed as head of the administrative procedures for admissions. Candidates are entitled to exercise their right to access procedural documents regarding the admissions procedure, in the manner prescribed by the Presidential Decree no. 184, dated 12 April 2006 (Regulations concerning access to administrative documents in accordance with Chapter V of Law no. 241/90). The Student Administration Office Manager, Mr. Donato Sigolo, has been appointed supervise the procedures relating to student files and the access thereof. 7. USE OF PERSONAL DATA In reference to the provisions stipulated in Legislative Decree no. 196, dated 30 June 2003 Personal data protection code, the protection of persons and other subjects regarding the processing of personal data and, in particular, the provisions of art. 13, personal information provided by applicants will be collected by authorized staff members of the University of Padua for the express purposes of organizing the admissions process and will be processed by computer. The treatment of said data, for those admitted to the study program, will continue after registration for purpose of assisting students in organizing their academic careers. Providing the university with such data is necessary for the evaluation of requirements for participation, under penalty of disqualification. The information provided may be disclosed only to local public authorities directly interested in the academic position of the candidates or the supervision of the admissions process. Interested parties retain their rights under Articles. 7, 8, 9 and 10 of the said Legislative Decree, which include the right of access to data relating to themselves, and any additional rights including the right to correct, update or delete incorrect, incomplete or collected information that does not conform to the law and/or the right to object to the processing thereof for legitimate reasons. The University will also seek to recover any benefits conferred on said individual (e.g. scholarships, etc.) and will not reimburse any fees paid. Finally, any false 8
