GENERAL INORMATION and SYSTEM DESCRIPTION The newly developed professional active DSP LINE ARRAYS, serie: Digivoice DSP2 (8-channels DSP) and serie: Digivoice DSP2 (16-channels DSP), have been developed especially for sound transmission in acoustic difficult areas with long reverberation times like such as churches, conference rooms, museums, cathedrals, conference centers and halls, but also as the perfect sound producer for multimedia applications. The active DigiVoice audio systemes consist of software-controlled speakers, each of the 8 resp.16 DSP channels has an own Class-D final stage which are regulated with different acoustic characteristics to fulfil the acoustic requirements of the particular location. The DSP supported speaker systems allow a precise directive sound and high-precision directivity by a high-quality mathematical calculation of the optimal parameters by the DSP (audio signal processor). Steady volume in the 95 db NEAR FIELD and WIDE FIELD and an excellent speech intelligibility in the complete sound range are only some advantages of the DigiVoice serie. Most important features are the continuous electronical controllability of sound outlet angle and inclination angle in vertical direction in real time, without mechanical direction of the speaker systems (incline). The Digivoice systems provide specific incline adjustment + / -45 degrees) and the vertical sound angle (6 degrees to 14 degrees), parameterization is done by the system automatically by the digital DSP control. Beyond that the integrated DSP audio system offers a whole lot of audio processing functions: MAIN CONTROL (basic settings) - Volume control / volume control (-20 db to +6 db) - Delay adjustment (0 to 500 ms) - Signal limiter with threshold (-40 db to +6 db) with mode: SLOW/NORMAL/FAST, adjustment - Noise gate with LEVEL/ATTACK/RELEASE, adjustment and BYPASS. DEVICE SETTINGS - Automatic SCANNING of the IP addresses of all networked DigiVoice speakers. - Besides that automatic allocation of the COM PORTs with port time out and COM-port display. BEAM CONTROL (User settings) - Column elevation / mounting height: (distance of the floor area) with setting parameters 1.5 m to 3 m height. - Focus distance / beam range: (directivity length while maintaining the sound pressure) according to model up to 25 meters. - Focus elevation / beam height: height setting for the acoustic lense in the area of 0.5 to 3 meters. - Opening angle: width setting for the acoustic lense in the aera of 6 to 14 degrees. PEQ (parametrical equalizer) - Selection of up to 10 PEQ elements. - Frequency selection of 20 Hz to 20 khz. - Range of effects Q-factor of 0.05 to 3 OCT. - Setting of amplification or deadening of the selected frequency of -20 db to +12 db. Useful information: A graphic presentation of the modified DSP configuration is integrated in the software under Operating Characteristic and Beam Drawing.

GENERAL INORMATION and SYSTEM DESCRIPTION The DigiVoice system has a transformer-balanced 100V IN (+50dB) interface input for direct signal infeed from the speaker network, two RJ-45 jacks (INPUT-LINK) for easy network and configuration of multiple DigiVoice systems (CAT-5 line) and a mains input terminal 230VAC. Important: In every place where no network lines (CAT-5) for the network of the DigiVoice systems may be passed, the DigiVoice DSP-line arrays can be connected directly to old, existing 100V lines to the internal 100V-Audio-IN input. After programming and measurement of the system via PC, the network lines and the programming interface may again be removed. The speakers are mounted flat at the wall. By the included software the acoustic characteristics are adapted to the local conditions. All active Digivoice Line Array systems have a modern switching power supply and fully digital 8 resp. 16 channel CLASS-D power amplifier with DSP. The Digivoice DSP2 and Digivoice DSP2 are controlled by the supplied system software ACML-CONTROL 1.5. The friendly designed user interface allow an easy and intuitive control operation in the range Audio-DSP and sound directivity. Only four main parameters are entered into the software ACML-CONTROLL 1.5 by the user: 1.-Mounting height 2.-Beam range 3.-Beam height 4.-Opening angle The parameterization is done by the system via digital DSP control automatically. 5- Equalization with PEQ To use the DigiVoice system correct and to apply all technical possibilities, you have to make a room adjustment control resp. room equalization after the installation. The DigiVoice systems are assembled with magnetostat sound converters and special positioned broadband chassis. The frequency-independent directing sound is only limited to the audience area and supplies highest acoustic and natural speech reproduction. In this way the sound reflections of the room is reduced to a minimum and the syllable comprehensibility (STIPA values) improved enormous. For the range and assembly of the particular line sound emitters please see the specifications. These active DSP supported Line Array systems with their expanded frequency range in the tweeter range (magnetostat sound converter) are excellent suitable for speech- and music transmission, and in connection with a SUB WOOFER to consider as FULL RANGE system.

SYSTEM INPUTS All systems serie Digivoice DSP2 and Digivoice DSP2 have on the rear side a connection port. At first remove the protective cover No. 1 to get to the connections of the connector port PROTECTIVE COVER 2. NETWORK INPUTS RJ-45 input jacks INPUT and LINK for easy networking of the system speakers and the connection to a PowerVoice automatic mixer by a system interface. 9 SYSTEM VERBINDUNG SOFTWARECONFIGURATION Information for installation and operation: IMPORTANT: Before you can use the ACML-CONTROL software, at first NET Framework 3.5 (or higher version) for Windows NT, XP and 98 should be installed. The NET Framework 3.5 is on the installation-cd or can be installed from the Microsoft website. Then the programme ACML-CONTROL 1.5 resp. ACML-CONTROL /Setup.exe can be installed on the PC. After the installation the program ist started automatically. After the network connection of all present DigiVoice systemes with D/A interface (RJ-45 inputs), the connection between PC and D/A interface (USB interface) can be done via USB port. In the field SETTINGS the option CONNECTION has to be chosen to be able to make communication with D/A interface. When you click at the SCAN button, program scans the existing COM ports and shows the connected devices. Then please confirm the connection in the new window with OK. The connection between PC and system is established. In the menu GROUP please choose the related Digivoice system with the right mouse button: - Submenu ADD SPEAKER - Submenu NEW DEVICE - for Digivoive DSP2 <ACML2 110/8> - for Digivoive DSP2 <ACML2 220/16>.

SYSTEM VERBINDUNG SOFTWARE CONFIGURATION Information for installation and operation: SOFTWARE PROGRAMMING MAIN CONTROL VOLUME In the range VOLUME the DigiVoice system s volume is adjusted digitally. SOFTWARE PROGRAMMING MAIN CONTROL DELAY signal delay Via mouse click at the DELAY window you get into the submenu DELAY. There is one DELAY available. Inputs can be adjusted in [ms], [m] and [cm]. Each DigiVoice system can have its own delay setting. TIP: A minimal signal delay of i.e. 2 ms has a positive effect to feedback deficit. A signal delay offers a correct sound by delaying the acoustic signals in a way that there are no echo interferences, even the speakers or amplification systems are located far from each other. Our digital audio signal delay is switching configurated in studio quality and uses extensively the calculated processing of the digitalized signal. It offers an automatable control of the time lags via very little quantization stages of the signal delay.

SYSTEM VERBINDUNG SOFTWARE CONFIGURATION Information for installation and operation: SOFTWARE PROGRAMMING MAIN CONTROL NOISE GATE LEVEL, ATTACK, RELEASE The noise gate cuts off signals under a specific, definable level (-90 db to -3dB). But signals which overmatch this level are passed unprocessed. A typical application is noise suppression with low level. Thereby the adjustable threshold level (LEVEL setting) is set directly over the noise level. Eventually present noise is thereby suppressed, as soon as the master volume of the input signal does not underrun the LEVEL calibration. If the master volume is higher than the LEVEL calibration, the interferences are also let passed but covered by stronger wanted signals. - LEVEL (-90 db to -3 db) Herewith you determine the changeover level, above this the effect of the limiter starts. -ATTACK (20us to 5000 us) This control determined the reaction speed of the internal circuitry to the input signal. The longer the ATTACK time is chosen, the later the limiter effect starts. With longer ATTACK times the LIMITER affects more to the average signal level and not anymore to fast and high peak levels. This causes a softer limiter effect and maintains the dynamics of the audio signal extensively, but cannot avoide temporary overrides. -RELEASE (1 ms to 3000 ms) In the range RELEASE-Modi you determine, how fast the limiter again returns to the unprocessed level of the input signal, as soon as after signal limitation the LEVEL is again underrun. In case of too short release periods and signals with high dynamic differences, undesired PUMP effects at simultaneous limited dynamics and higher overall volume can happen. However, longer release periods produce softer changeovers, a compressed audio signal, but simultaneously get the short dynamic peaks.

SYSTEM VERBINDUNG SOFTWARE CONFIGURATION Information for installation and operation: SOFTWARE PROGRAMMING MAIN CONTROL LIMITER Threshold In the menu LIMITER you determine via the threshold adjustment (-40 db to +6 db) the crossover level, over which the limiter effect starts. By level enhancement there will be delay of limiter start. In the menu LIMITER you determine via ATTACK TIME the reaction rate of the internal circuit to the input signal. SLOW- longer ATTACK time MIDDLE- middle ATTACK time FAST- fast ATTACK time The longer the ATTACK time (SLOW position) is chosen, the later limiter effect will start. With longer ATTACK times, the limiter has more effect to the average signal level and not anymore to fast and high peak levels. This causes a softer limiter effect and maintains the signal dynamics extensively, but cannot avoid temporary override caused by fast signal peaks. Useful information: Longer attack times at percussive signals let the dynamic tone level PICK pass, without regulating the level down. A KICK DRUM also keeps its PUNCH at longer attack times. Also at RECORDING resp. final mixing a litte longer attack times will be appreciated. To protect speakers from too high peak levels in PA applications, short attack times are however recommended (FAST setting).

SOFTWARE CONFIGURATION Information for installation and operation: The system will, caused by the inputs in the ranges - COLUMN ELEVATION (mounting height) - FOCUS DISTANCE (beam range) - FOCUS ELEVATION (beam height) - OPENING ANGLE (vertical opening angle) make no automatic control calculation of the array resp. the control parameters. All in the system needed algorythms are configurated automatically. Reference element Mounting height! SOFTWARE AREA BEAM CONTROL COLUMN ELEVATION The inputs in the field COLUMN ELEVATION (distance from the floor area) are extremely important for the correct automatic calculation of the system settings! Important information Please consider that the measurement from the floor area has to be done up to the lower housing edge. Measure the distance and take the measured value over to the software in the field COLUMN ELEVATION (mounting height). Important information An optical indication in the monitor window shows automatically all setting changes of the sound level which have been done by you. SOFTWAREBEREICH BEAM CONTROL FOCUS DISTANCE In the field FOCUS DISTANCE the required sound range can be adjusted by you. Important information Please consider the technical characteristics resp. the maximal indicated range of the specific Digivoice models.

SOFTWARE CONFIGURATION Information for installation and operation: SOFTWARE FIELD BEAM CONTROL FOCUS ELEVATION In the field FOCUS ELEVATION the required height of the sound s acoustic lense can be adjusted by you. Useful information: The acoustic lense height should, if possible, adjusted to the height of the audience (ear level). SOFTWARE FIELD BEAM CONTROL OPENING ANGLE In the field OPENING ANGLE the required vertical sound ray opening angle can be adjusted by you.

SOFTWARE CONFIGURATION Information for installation and operation: SOFTWARE FIELD PEQ 10 POINT PEQ Via mouse click to the PEQ window you get into the submenu PEQ. There all audio settings for the parametric EQ of the input range can be done. All changes are graphically displayed in the monitor window as trajectory curve. Each POINT- PEQ has: Amplification setting (G) (-20dB bis +12 db) Octave setting, wing direction (BW) (0,05 to 3,0 oct.) Frequencies setting (20 Hz to 20 khz) Useful information: A parametric equalizer PEQ allows boosting or driving of arbitrary frequencies with the possibility to determine the EQ width of effects (Q factor) by yourself. Please consider the screen display. Nr.1 Ist-Wert To be able to use the DigiVoice system correct and to apply all technical possibilities, you have to make a room adjustment resp. a room equalization after the installation. To carry out a room measurement, you need a measuring tool. Minimum is therefor the NiniLink (Acoustilyzer) from Neutrik or a professional measuring software like f.i. MLSSA. For a practical measurement the measuring microphone must be positioned exactly at this place, where afterwards the audience will be (f.i. in church acoustics in the middle of the church). By installing PINK NOISE to the PowerVoice amplifier measure the amplitude frequency range with the measuring microphone. Soll-Wert If the appraised frequency range does not have the aspired characteristics, an adjustment in specific areas will be done by boosting and driving of the frequency spectrum with room adjustment filters (PEQ).

SOFTWARE CONFIGURATION Nr.1 Information for installation and operation: Useful information: ist Wert Repeat the measuring- and adjustment procedure until there is a linearity (see drawing No 2). In big halls or in case of higher distance from the signal sources (f.i. speakers) a treble dropout will happen. For rooms with reverberation it is senseful to concentrate additionally on the equalization of low frequencies up to Hz. In this frequency range eich is the biggest reverberations. It has been shown that one should go with a lot of feeling in the equalization zoom. It should in this case always the efficiency of the loudspeaker and the amplifier are considered. Nr.2 sol Wert Equalization for feedback suppression The positive feedback between the microphone and speaker generates the so-called feedback loop that begins always at the frequency at which the transmission curve has the strongest peak. This can be damped by the power in the voice amplifier integrated limiter and automatic feedback in Digivoice systems by correcting with PEQ as follows: First, try to reduce the disturbing frequency with the parametric EQ to a desired value (db) narrowband (OCT). Then, create a feedback by increasing the microphone sensitivity. Measure the frequency occurring and correct them with the parametric EQ. Then in support for mobile frequencies in Powervoice automatic power mixer, a automatic FEEDBACK SUPPRESSOR (adaptability) to be connected. MODI: (adaptability) VOICE POWER SYSTEM AMP Feedback Reduction: available for a super-fast automatic feedback suppression ten precise notch filters are available, which are automatically and reduce feedback Lautsprecher Endverstärker Mikrofon Vorverstärker
