1 3 WATER FLOW MANAGEMENT REQUIREMENTS This section will describe the current strategy of the irrigation supply to each greenhouse, as well as the requirements in terms of control. 3.1 OVERALL DESCRIPTION OF CURRENT ENVIRONMENT Please find attached in Annexuree A the physical layoutt of the strategy with some descriptions of the purpose of each section. The sub sections on the drawing. Prior to entering this will describe each relevant part of the operation that is indicated stage of operation, the treated effluent waterr will daily be pumped from the SWWTW balancing dam to the AgriZone. There are 10 ponds with the following descriptions: Pond A: Rainwater harvesting/attenuation storage pond for greenhouse A Pond C: Rainwater harvesting/attenuation storage pond for greenhouse C Pond D: Rainwater harvesting/attenuation storage pond for greenhouse D TWW: Treated waste water pond storage of water from different sources before treatment IRR RES: Irrigation Reservoir final treated water mixed with rainwater to supplement rainwaterr ponds FW A: Flush water pond at greenhouse A FW D: Flush water pond at greenhouse D BALANCING DAM 1: Primary receiving pond receiving water directly from the Waste Water Treatment works BALANCING DAM 2: Tested effluent gets released into this pond, serving as a buffer BRINE DAM: Brine from the Reverse Osmosiss (RO) operations gets dumped into this pond. WTW: Water Treatment Works 6 AgriZone Water Management Plan

2 3.1.1 AGRIZONE BALANCING DAM 1 AN D 2 The water from the 1000 m 3 SWWTW Balancing Dam is pumped into 2000m 3 AgriZone Balancing Dam 1. Water is tested forr critical parameters before it is released to 2000m 3 AgriZone Balancing Dam 2. If the water quality is satisfactory it will go to m 3 Treated Waste Water (TWW) Balancing Dam, otherwise if poor, it will gravitate to Flush Pond TREATED WASTEWATER (TWW) BALANCING DAM The good quality water from the 2000m 3 AgriZone Balancing Dam 2 is drained on demand into the m 3 TWWW balancing dam. Weekly tests will be required to be done on site. The borehole water and potable water would also go into the TWW Balancing Dam from where it will go through treatment on demand. Emergency potable water connections are done to this pond to supplement should all the sources fail and will then be able to be treated AGRIZONE E WATER TREATMENT WORK KS (WTW) The floating pumps on the TWWW balancing dam push the water from the different sources into the AgriZone WTW. The water firstly passes the UV System and sandfilters, and can either go through RO plant or bypass it depending on the water quality results from TWW. If the RO is bypassed, the water directly enters the m 3 Irrigation Reservoir. The RO product also goes into the m 3 Irrigation Reservoir and the brine is released into the Brine Pond IRRIGATION RESERVOIR (IR RR RES) Water quality at the Irrigation Reservoir (IRR RES) should be acceptable for irrigating hydroponic plants at Greenhouses. The water from Irrigation Reservoir can be gravitated into Pond A, C and D. It can also be supplemented by rain water coming from Pond A, C and D during wet seasons when there is access rainwater harvesting. It can also then be supplemented by the TWWW pond through the treatment works. 7 AgriZone Water Management Plan

3 3.1.5 PONDS A, C & D The rain water is collected off the roofs of the glass Greenhouse A, C and D respectively and then goes into Pond A,, C and D,, and is analysed for the determinants. At a certain level, the water from the ponds can be pumped back into Irrigation Reservoir. Potable water can also be released into Pond A, C and D BRINE WATER Brine water from the Reverse Osmosis plant will be released into this pond FLUSH PONDS Flush water is collected from back wash waterr and water discarded at Greenhouses because of poor water quality. It is currently taken away by water tankers, but in future it is going to be pumped to sugar cane fields. This is already automatically controlled by the backwashing systems. 8 AgriZone Water Management Plan
