4 1 Introduction This communication is to inform the Clients that the Exchange has prepared a roll-forward / rollback plan for migrating the MTA, ETF Plus, MOT, SeDeX Markets from TradElect Trading platform to MIT Trading scheduled on Monday June 25 th. In order to allow the Clients to prepare the migration plan properly, this document describes the roll-forward and rollback plan prepared by the Exchange to ensure continuity of trading activities. The rollback plan is a usual practice for the Exchange in the event a major and unrecoverable technical issue is experienced on the Trading System, or on other core Exchange service such as MDF/DDM Plus, on the launch date of the Borsa Italiana Markets migration. The rollback plan will remain effective and can be called by the Exchange during the three consecutive trading days after the launch date until Wednesday 27th June included. It has the objective to restore full trading functionality on the current TradElect trading platform and on the current software version of MDF/DDM Plus. Market participants trading systems and related data must be rolled back accordingly in such event. 2 Roll-Forward Plan Based on launch date set for the migration, Monday 25th, the plan is organized in the following steps. 2.1 Trading Platform Borsa Italiana Markets will close the Friday s trading session on the TradElect platform according to the usual trading hours. As soon as the end of day procedures are completed onto TradElect, all the instruments will be configured on the MIT Trading System. We remind you that all the long orders still present on TradElect after the closure of the markets on Friday 22nd June will be cancelled by the Exchange and the customers connected will receive the related notification. Therefore there will be not any migration of these orders on the MIT Trading. The Main Markets of the TradElect platform will be frozen and made available in case an emergency rollback procedure should be called during the rollback period, from Monday 25th to Wednesday 27th June. We inform also that all the delayed off book trades entered on Affari Trading System will be published on Friday evening. 2.2 Market Data Service Data dissemination services MDF/ DDM Plus will close at the end of Friday s trading session as usual. After the close of the markets, MDF/DDM Plus software version will be updated on the central systems. We remind you that the new MDF/DDM Plus software release also includes a new version of API library (Emapi 2.6.3g) and previous versions are not supported. 4

5 3 Roll-Back Plan The plan is organized into to two different scenarios, according to the time when the unrecoverable failure occurs on the MIT Trading or MDF/DDM Plus systems: 1. the failure occurs, the day of the launch, before the start of the Borsa Italiana Markets (before 8:00 a.m.) 2. the failure occurs, on any of the three days after the launch date, after the start of Borsa Italiana Markets (after 8:00 a.m.) Scenario 1 Failure occurs before 8:00 a.m. CET of the first trading day on MIT a. All market participants are promptly informed of the outage and the rollback proce-dure is called by the Exchange before 8:00 CET. The announcement will be published on the following section of the Borsa Italiana website ( an urgent communication is sent through to market participants relevant contacts (listed on the Bit-Club website), to all information vendors and the ISVs. The rollback procedure is immediately started; at the central site it will be performed the restore of the MDF/DDM-plus version and the API library Emapi 2.6.3d. c. The markets MTA, SEDEX, MOT and ETF-Plus will be restored on TradElect d. All the Markets, including IDEM hosted by Sola trading platform and TAH will be then opened according to the new trading schedule set by Borsa Italiana. e. e. Once received the confirmation of the activation of the rollback plan, market participants and information vendors, have to start their rollback activities. All trading and information systems directly interconnected to the Exchange s systems including databases and configurations must be restored to their current versions. Market participants are therefore requested to maintain a backup of the current systems environment in order to speed up the restore procedures. Scenario 2 Failure occurs after 8:00 a.m. CET a. All market participants are promptly informed of the outage through an announce-ment that will be published on the following section of the Borsa Italiana website ( an urgent communication is sent through to market participants relevant contacts (listed on the Bit-Club website), to all information vendors and the ISVs. 6 b. Depending on how the events unfold, Borsa Italiana might invoke different actions. Therefore, Market participants and information vendors are requested to follow the instructions and recommendations provided by Borsa Italiana to optimise the resumption of the trading activities. As described before, the announcement will be published on the following section of the Borsa Italiana website ( and a communication is sent through to market participants relevant contacts (listed on the Bit-Club website), to all information vendors and the ISVs. c. In case of unrecoverable technical issue on MIT Trading, Borsa Italiana could decide to recover the trading activity of the Markets on the TradElect Trading System. In this scenario, market participants and information vendors are requested to rollback their software applications. Trading on all the Markets will be then resumed according to the new trading schedule set by Borsa Italiana. We would also like to inform you that, in any of the scenarios mentioned above, the post trading services managed by Monte Titoli and Cassa Compensazione e Garanzia will not be submitted to any rollback procedure. 6
