Bostic spent more than 10 years as vice president and associate corporate counsel for Raymond James Financial, representing it in FINRA arbitration claims, customer complaints, and regulatory inquiries. During his 33 years of legal practice, he has worked as an Assistant United States Attorney; Assistant Minority Counsel to the United States Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations; and in private practice, focused on complex civil and criminal litigation related to racketeering, bank fraud, securities fraud, antitrust, embezzlement, environmental crimes, and money laundering. Sean Carter is a lawyer, author, comedian, and self-described Humorist at Law with Lawpsided Seminars in Mesa, Arizona. He has provided his unique brand of CLE (comedic legal education) for more than 250 organizations. His programs all have one thing in common humor, and plenty of it. He is the author of the comedic legal treatise, If It Does Not Fit, Must You Acquit?: Your Humorous Guide to the Law. Mr. Carter has also written numerous syndicated legal humor columns. Christiane R. Fife is a shareholder with Schwabe Williamson & Wyatt in Portland, Oregon. Her practice includes the defense of product liability, premises liability, breach of warranty, breach of contract, and disability and life insurance coverage cases. Ms. Fife is the program chair of this seminar and has been a steering committee member of DRI s Young Lawyers Committee since She is also a member of the steering committee for DRI s Product Liability Committee. Zandra E. Foley is a partner with Thompson Coe Cousins & Irons LLP in Houston, where she focuses on litigation in state and federal courts. Ms. Foley frequently represents individuals, businesses, and professionals in tort and contract litigation, including claims of malpractice, property damage, death and serious injury, and intentional torts. She has been recognized as a Texas Super Lawyer Rising Star and is a member of DRI s Professional Liability Committee. Ruth Anderson Gates is senior counsel in the product liability group at Nissan North America Inc. in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Prior to joining the company in 2006, she practiced with the largest law firm in Austin, Texas, where the majority of her practice was devoted to representing automotive and pharmaceutical clients in product liability actions. She co-authored An Overview of Oklahoma Product Liability Law, 73 Okla. B.J (2002), which won the Oklahoma Bar Journal s Golden Quill Award. Lisa Gilford, a partner in the Los Angeles office of Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom LLP, was recently named as 4 one of the Top 100 Lawyers by the Los Angeles Daily Journal and is consistently listed among the Top Women Litigators in California. She focuses on class actions, product liability law, and jury trials. She has represented major members of the automotive, insurance, communications, oil and gas, aerospace, chemical, manufacturing, and pharmaceutical industries. C. Meade Hartfield is an attorney with Baker Donelson Bearman Caldwell & Berkowitz PC, with offices in Birmingham, Alabama, and Jackson, Mississippi. She focuses her practice primarily on product liability, namely drug and medical device litigation. She has represented clients nationwide in other industries, including automotive, aviation, environmental, industrial equipment, insurance, and financial services. Ms. Hartfield currently serves as the social media vice chair for DRI s Drug and Medical Device Committee and publications chair for the Women in the Law Committee. Jennifer Snyder Heis is a partner at Ulmer & Berne LLP in Cincinnati, where she concentrates her practice in pharmaceutical and product liability litigation. Ms. Heis represents clients both nationally, in multidistrict litigation and coordinated state proceedings, and locally. She is the chair of DRI s Young Lawyers Committee and also is active with DRI s Drug and Medical Device Committee. Loretta O. Hoskins is a partner at Chaffe McCall LLP in New Orleans. Her practice focuses on commercial litigation, health care law, and railroad litigation. She appears regularly in state and federal district and appellate courts throughout Louisiana. In 2012 and 2013, she was named a Top Lawyer in medical malpractice law and appellate practice in New Orleans Magazine. Ms. Hoskins is also a member of the steering committee for DRI s Young Lawyers Committee. Thomas G. Jacks is senior counsel at Underwood Perkins PC in Dallas, concentrating on commercial litigation and intellectual property matters involving patents, trademarks, and copyrights. He is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell and has been recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in intellectual property litigation. Mr. Jacks is a program second vice chair for this seminar and a steering committee member of DRI s Young Lawyers Committee. Jill D. Jacobson is senior litigation counsel for Husqvarna Professional Products Inc. in Charlotte, North Carolina, handling all litigation and litigation-related matters. Husqvarna Professional Products Inc. is the world s largest producer of outdoor power products, including chainsaws, trimmers, lawn mowers,

Before joining Husqvarna, Ms. Jacobson was a trial lawyer whose practice was focused on product liability litigation. She also served as national counsel for various pattern litigation and mass tort matters. Kelly E. Jones, a partner at Harris Beach PLLC in New York City, focuses in New York and New Jersey on litigation and consulting involving FDA- and EPA-regulated products, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, cosmetics, food, and chemicals. Ms. Jones defends clients in mass tort, class action, and product liability litigation nationwide. She is the first vice chair of DRI s Young Lawyers Committee. Mary Re Knack, a member in the Seattle office of Williams Kastner, focuses on litigation relating to health care, insurance, product liability, mass tort, and civil matters. She provides business, regulatory, licensing, and privacy-related services to health care providers, the health care industry, and employers. Her insurance practice involves coverage and bad faith matters, plus guidance on compliance with Section 111 of the MMSEA and the Medicare Secondary Payer Act. Ms. Knack is a member of DRI s Law Institute. Marcus M. Maples is a partner at Sirote & Permutt PC in Birmingham, Alabama. His practice focuses on general business and commercial litigation, including representing lenders in mortgage banking related matters and insurers in bad faith and ERISA related issues. He is an active leader in DRI s Young Lawyers and Diversity Committees. R. Craig Mayfield is a shareholder with Hill Ward Henderson in Tampa, Florida, where his extensive litigation and trial practice focuses on product liability and complex mass tort claims. Mr. Mayfield is the co-practice group leader for his firm s product liability and personal injury practice groups. He is a former chair of DRI s Young Lawyers Committee, and currently serves on the steering committees for DRI International and DRI s Product Liability Committee. Emily V. Pastorius is the chief counsel for labor, employment, and litigation at TeleTech Holdings Inc., a global business processes company headquartered in Englewood, Colorado. She oversees all facets of litigation for TeleTech and advises the company and its business units on active litigation and other risks. Prior to joining TeleTech, Ms. Pastorius was a litigator and trial attorney at a national firm and also served as senior corporate counsel at DISH Network LLC. James L. Pattillo is a litigation partner with the Birmingham, Alabama, firm of Norman Wood Kendrick & Turner. His practice areas include insurance coverage, product liability, professional liability, transportation, and commercial litigation. Mr. Pattillo has extensive trial experience, having first-chaired over 50 trials to verdict. He was selected as an Alabama Super Lawyer ( ) and listed in Top Attorneys in Birmingham Magazine ( ). He is a former chair of DRI s Young Lawyers Committee. Niall A. Paul is a member of Spilman Thomas & Battle PLLC s Charleston, West Virginia, office. He is the chair of the firm s Battle Group, a practice group devoted to handling high risk complex matters. Mr. Paul has successfully litigated over 100 bench, jury, and administrative trials. He has handled cases ranging from environmental mass torts to wrongful death to commercial and financial fraud. Andrew S. Pride is an attorney with Ford Motor Company s Office of the General Counsel in the product litigation group in Dearborn, Michigan. Mr. Pride is responsible for litigation arising from various vehicle defect allegations. He manages all aspects of each case with the assistance of national and local counsel. Prior to joining Ford Motor Company, Mr. Pride was a partner at a national law firm. Gail Rodgers, a partner in DLA Piper s global litigation practice in New York City, focuses on pharmaceutical and medical device litigation, mass torts, product liability, and governmental and internal investigations. Ms. Rodgers has represented a significant number of her firm s Fortune 100 clients, including some of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. An active DRI member, she is a steering committee member of DRI s Women in the Law and Drug and Medical Device Committees. Amber Vincent, a partner at Alyn-Weiss & Associates Inc. in Lakewood, Colorado, researches and writes marketing communication plans for attorneys and firms and then helps clients execute those plans. This includes working with trade and general circulation print and broadcast media editors and reporters, media research, copy writing, and managing special events. Ms. Vincent is also the firm s online marketing specialist, which includes pay-per-click campaigns, SEO strategies, online reputation management, and media relations. Joshua C. Webb, an associate at Hill Ward Henderson in Tampa, Florida, focuses his practice on commercial litigation and professional liability. He is the program vice chair of this seminar and is also actively involved with DRI s Professional Liability Committee. Live Stream or In Person Registration GENERAL INFORMATION GENERAL INFORMATION CLE/CLAIMS ADJUSTERS ACCREDITATION This seminar has been approved for MCLE credit by the State Bar of California in the amount of hours, including 1 hour of ethics credit. Accreditation has been requested from every state with mandatory continuing legal education (CLE) requirements. Certificates of attendance will be provided to each attendee. Attendees are responsible for obtaining CLE credits from their respective states. Application has been made for continuing education for claims adjusters. Credit availability and requirements vary from state to state; please check the DRI website at dri.org for the latest information for your state. REGISTRATION The registration fee is $595. The registration fee includes course materials, continental breakfasts, refreshment breaks, networking receptions, and access to the DRI app. If you wish to have your name appear on the registration list distributed at the conference and receive the course materials in advance, DRI must receive your registration by June 6, 2014 (please allow 10 days for processing).
