The prcess fr the virtual permitting is as fllws. Yu will need t submit all the required paperwrk listed belw t the fllwing address: permitting@grveland-fl.gv. Once we receive the paperwrk, we will prcess the paperwrk and get the permit ready. Once the permit is ready, we will back a credit card authrizatin frm. This frm must be cmpleted and ntarized and either faxed back t (352) r ed back t permitting@grveland-fl.gv. Once we run the credit card charge, we will send yu a cpy f the permit card and any apprved plans via . Yu simply print ut a cpy f these plans and permit card and pst them n the jb the day yu start yur wrk. Please d nt frget t pst yur ntice f cmmencement at the jbsite and prir t starting wrk. Is this a rf-ver, where the existing shingles are nt remved, the prduct apprval infrmatin must indicate that the shingles were tested in this manner. If the prduct apprval infrmatin des nt indicate installatin ver existing shingles, then yu will need lcal prduct apprval and an engineer will need t prvide evidence that the installatin will prvide the same level f prtectin as the prduct apprval fr installatin ver a wd deck. Yu have read this entire sheet including the instructins fr inspectins belw. Instructins: Be sure that yu have submitted all the items n the list abve. Typical inspectin fr a rerf are a nailing, dry-in and flashing and a final inspectin. The dry-in inspectin will cnsist f felt prperly laid and nailed alng with flashing and drip edge prperly installed, lapped and nailed alng with any ther rf penetratins. Then a final inspectin, which will cnsist f a visual inspectin f the installatin as well as a check f the sealing f the starter curse arund the perimeter f the building as well as any specific requirements by the manufacturer. Metal rfs are quite different and inspectins will be dictated by the manufacturer s specificatins. Inspectin Items: Typical items that get turned dwn n an rerf inspectin include, but are nt limited t the fllwing items. 1. Drip edge nt prperly lapped r fastened. 2. Felt paper run ver the drip edge and nt prperly sealed. 3. Starter curse nt prperly sealed between starter and first shingle. This includes the entire perimeter including the rake. We inspect this by gently lifting up n the edge f the first curse f shingle. This shingle shuld be hard t lift up, but if it cmes up very easily, the jb will be turned dwn. 4. Rf penetratins, including the ridge vent nt prperly sealed. This includes the fasteners required t attach the penetratins t the rf. 5. Blcking required alng edges f penetratins exceeding 144 square inches. This is a very cmmn item fr ff ridge vents. Please be sure t retrfit blcking if nt already installed. 6. Imprper nailing f deck. 7. Felt fastener pattern nt crrect. The rule f thumb is yu shuld nt be able t place a 12 x 12 square anywhere n the rf deck withut tuching a fastener. Please see the permit tech fr a fastener schedule. 8. N flashing in areas where there is a change in pitch. 9. Shingles installed that d nt meet pitch requirements (t lw f a pitch). 10. Shingles trimmed t much r nt enugh. Fllw mfg specs that require anywhere frm a 3/8 t ¼ verhang ver the drip edge. 11. Permit card must be psted n the jb and visible frm the rad as sn as wrk is started. 12. N permit card n the jb r n mfg specs n the jb fr inspectin

9 Rerf Plan 1. It s very imprtant fr bth the review and the inspectin t have a gd rfing plan. Belw is a sample f what we expect t be submitted. Imprtant t us is the pitch f the rf, the existing substrate (1/2 plywd, 15/32 OSB, 1x12 s etc), the prpsed material t be installed alng with the apprpriate FL prduct apprval number. Please nte that different pitch rfs may require different prducts, s please be sure t list all prpsed FL prduct apprval numbers. 2. Additinal infrmatin t be submitted include any material that is being replaced such as rtten rf decking, rtten fascia bards and any trusses that need t be repaired. Please nte that this infrmatin will be helpful t determine if the scpe f wrk exceeds what is allwed by a rfing cntractr. Structural repairs that require engineering will als require a licensed general cntractr. 3. Please als nte that areas that require flashing shuld als be ntated n the plans as t the type and thickness. Please see sample plan fr mre details.
