2 CALLS Calls for research on research integrity Deadline: 1 September, 2016 The Ministry of Higher Education and Science exceptionally distributes a total of up to 9 million DKK in funding in 2016/2017. The projects may last up to two years. The funds are distributed for research projects that aim to gain better insight into the integrity of Danish research. The initiative should be seen in the context of the Danish Code of Conduct for Research Integrity. European Research Council Advanced Grant Deadline: 1 September, 2016 The ERC encourages in particular proposals that cross disciplinary boundaries, pioneering ideas that address new and emerging fields and applications that introduce unconventional, innovative approaches. Advanced Grants are designed to support excellent Principal Investigators at the career stage at which they are already established research leaders with a recognised track record of research achievements.

3 Applicant Principal Investigators must demonstrate the groundbreaking nature, ambition and feasibility of their scientific proposal. The Tryg Foundation calls for proposals on security, health and wellbeing Deadline: 1 September, 2016 The Tryg Foundation supports many types of projects, research, equipment and courses which overall aim is to increase security, health and wellbeing in Denmark. It's possible to apply for different types of initiatives within the Tryg Foundation's 11 focus areas. These focus areas are selected on the basis of 11 social problems, the Tryg Foundation would like to contribute to solving. Energiteknologisk Udviklings- og Demonstrationsprogram (EUDP) calls for applications regarding production of 2nd generation bioethanol Deadline: 14 September, 2016 The Energiteknologisk Udviklings- og Demonstrationsprogram (EUDP) offers a special funding of 35 million DKK. The funding is specifically earmarked grants for projects in technology development and demonstration of production of 2nd generation bioethanol for the transportsector.

4 The funds are distributed according to EUDP general purpose, eligibility criteria and rules. Calls for research within the Horizon 2020 Efficient Energy programme Deadline: 15 September, 2016 Several calls within the Efficient Energy programme has been released. The calls contains the following subjects: Making the Energy Efficient market investible Development and roll-out of innovation Energy Efficient services Engaging private consumers towards sustainable energy Engaging and activating public authorities The budget for the calls range between 1-4 million euro and is classified as CSA actions. The Innovation Fund calls for Industrial Researchers Deadline: 19 September, 2016 Under The Industrial Researchers program funding is provided to Ph.d's and Postdoc researchers in the industry. In both scenarios, the candidate is working in a private company and is enrolled in, or work with, a public research institution. The candidate works on the same research project at both places.

5 The Innovation Fund invests in research projects in all disciplines, as long as it is a research project of high quality and commercial relevance for the company. Funding for Nordic Register-based Research Projects Deadline: 5 October, 2016 This call targets research utilising the unique Nordic research infrastructures made up by population-based registers and healthcare data. The research should address societal challenges and use registerdata from combined data sources (i.e. both socio-economic and health-related data) Research proposals targeting any of the following themes are invited to apply: Health challenges related to working life (including sickness absence, disability pensions and retirement conditions) Prevention, quality of life and underlying causes to illnesses and conditions in children and young. Attention should be taken to the children s families and social environment including school Research on conditions where each country does not have sufficient data, including rare diseases Research supporting personalised medicine Research applying a life-course perspective

6 COST Action call for proposal Tentative deadline for applications: 1 December, 2016 COST is the longest-running European framework supporting transnational cooperation among researchers, engineers and scholars across Europe. COST invites proposals for Actions contributing to the scientific, technological, economic, cultural or societal knowledge advancement and development of Europe. The call is open to ideas in all fields of Science and Technology including Humanities and Social Sciences. Multi- and interdisciplinary proposals are encouraged. Interreg's first call for seed money application opens soon Deadline for applications: 15 February, 2017 Seed Money refers to Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme funding that is used to prepare project proposals with strategic importance to one of the policy areas or horizontal actions of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR). With seed money support, projects can be prepared for any funding source available in the Baltic Sea region. Currently, several Interreg Baltic Sea Region projects are running that have been granted seed money to prepare the applications.

7 EVENTS Webinar: 'Impact in SSH and SC6' Date: 29 June, 2016 at 11 AM (CET) The aim is to prepare the participants to the proposal season for the 2017 calls by this first webinar of a series of two. The two webinars foreseen for 2016 will promote a discussion on impact and address the challenges of properly addressing impact in competitive proposals. This first webinar will serve as an introduction for us to understand how impact is assessed in SC6 and SSH projects. We will be privileged to have with us Marta Soler-Gallart, coordinator of IMPACT- EV project (FP7). Impact-EV's main objectives is to develop a permanent system of selection, monitoring, evaluation and comparison of the impact and outcomes from European SSH research and for that reason her insights will certainly be very useful to our work. Consultation on 5G networks in Europe Deadline: 11 July, 2016 The European Commission has opened a consultation seeking views on 5G technologies. The purpose of the consultation is to identify opportunities for a coordinated introduction of 5G networks in Europe, and to assess elements of a 5G Action Plan for the timely deployment of 5G infrastructure as of 2020.

8 The results will help refine the key parameters for the introduction of 5G in Europe and feed directly the 5G Action Plan to be published as part of the European Commission's upcoming review of EU telecoms framework this autumn. Horizon 2020 Workshop on Impact session 2 REGISTRATION NOW OPEN! Deadline: 8 August, 2016 Following the June workshop with focus on impact in more general terms, the Funding & Project Management office (F&P) AAU, organizes a second workshop for AAU researchers on how to address the aspect of Impact in H2020 projects. This workshop is more hands-on and will focus on how the impact section of your H2020 application can be as strong and convincing as possible. Please notice, that the workshop is primarily intended for applicants preparing a proposal for the coming H2020 deadlines in autumn 2016 and winter It is not a prerequisite to have participated in the first workshop. Info Day 2016 Horizon 2020 Energy Efficiency Date: 19 September, 2016 With more than 100M available in the Horizon 2020 Energy Efficiency Call 2017, with deadlines in January and June 2017, there are opportunities to fund both research and market uptake projects.

9 The Information Day 2016 will: update you on the European policy on sustainable energy; introduce the Energy Efficiency priorities of the H calls for project proposals; tell you how to apply for funding; offer dedicated workshops for each funding area with the opportunity to meet EASME's energy team and have answers to your questions; give you opportunities to network and find project partners. Conference on International mobility of researchers - from quantity to quality Deadline: 22 September, 2016 at to Internationalization is inextricably linked with a successful research career. However, it is no longer merely a concern for the individual researcher, but an institutional strategy involving both university management and government institutions. The question is, what role should managers and ministries play in strengthening the internationalization of researchers at the Danish universities? And furthermore, how can we strategically stimulate and support international networks for research environments? The conference will feature three different examples of strategic support for stronger ties with international researchers as well as the launch of the first out of three reports on the internationalization of Danish research by DEA and the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation.

10 NEWS New Horizon 2020 movies released The Ministry of Higher Education and Science have just released three new short information movies regarding Horizon Introduction to EU research and innovation program The film provides a basic introduction to Horizon Who can apply for funding from Horizon 2020, what are the demands to the EU projects and what is achieved by researching and creating innovation with funding from Horizon The good application for Horizon 2020 The film focuses on how to write a good application for a research and innovation topic in Horizon 2020, when a consortium of European partners join forces to solve a specific societal challenge Interdisciplinary cooperation in Horizon 2020 The film focuses on interdisciplinary cooperation in Horizon Why is it important and what you achieve in interdisciplinary projects.
