The closing date identified for each vacancy defines the date Human Resources will officially stop accepting applications and begin the screening/interviewing process leading to an employment recommendation. However, applications received after the closing date will be retained and may be considered if it has been determined the initial applicant pool did not produce a suitable candidate to recommend for employment. BACKGROUND CHECKS The Illinois State Board has implemented the practice of using the services of an outside vendor to run a background check on any/all external applicants recommended for employment. Each applicant invited to an interview will be asked to sign a release that identifies the applicant is aware, and approves the agency to secure the background check, should the applicant be recommended for employment by the hiring administrator. Refusal to sign the release will result in the termination of consideration of the applicant. Salary Policy The salary identified for a specific vacancy is either step 1 of the assigned salary lane or the minimum of the assigned salary range. The agency's policy regarding applicants not currently employed by the agency is to employ new staff at such entry levels unless sufficient evidence is provided by the recommending authority to consider a higher rate. 3 SPRINGFIELD PRINCIPAL CONSULTANT: Inventory #1524 Information Technology Division Springfield Office MONTHLY SALARY: Lane 4 Minimum salary $3,946 DUTIES: Reporting to the Division Administrator, provides technical, end-user support at an advanced level ensuring ISBE standards and policies are followed in configuration, installation, maintenance, upgrade, inventory control and general use of personal computers, Thin Clients, laptops, printers, scanners, ipads, projectors, and other peripheral devices. Conducts in-depth technical research to find solutions to technical problems. Identifies and resolves hardware and software problems, documenting activity according to Information Technology directives and providing follow-up to ensure end-user satisfaction. Specific duties include: functions as a team leader by assuming additional responsibility for and demonstrating expertise for a particular process area. Performs Technical Assistance Team (TAT) related tasks in response to HEAT (call logging system) tickets and other routine TAT assigned duties that provide end-user support on all hardware and software. Researches, investigates, diagnoses and resolves hardware and software problems (isolating network vs. standard desktop environment issues). Deploys, installs, upgrades, and reconfigures hardware and software as needed. Appropriately opens, updates, and closes HEAT tickets. Updates Information Technology tracking system and other sources according to divisional policy. Supports Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) migration project with specific responsibilities that include: create Thin Client images and establish user rights as needed; pull/push images as needed; create, test, and update Thin apps; delete Thinstall directory; and provision/deploy Thin Clients and monitors to agency users. Requires working closely with infrastructure team in completion of virtualization and other installation tasks. Diagnoses and isolates network trouble issues versus those attributable only to VDI environment. Evaluates new hardware and software and makes recommendations for their procurement to meet ISBE user needs. Serves as resource for others in resolving technical problems and is involved in long-term technology planning. Recommends new procedures and techniques to improve supported services. Participates in and conducts training as requested, including training TAT team members and agency end users. Assists other groups with technology in workshops, meetings and conferences. Continues to develop knowledge and familiarity with supported equipment and services by attending meetings, training sessions, seminars, industry related conferences, and personal research to stay current on information technology products, vendors, techniques, and procedures applicable to TAT and VDI activities. Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION REQUIRED: Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Network Systems, Information Technology or other specific IT or computer field, or an Associate s Degree in one of the listed fields plus six months recent (within past 12 months) fulltime employment in a diagnostic/repair/refurbish/deployment position that demonstrates increasing responsibility and experience in hardware and software support. Coursework must include a minimum of 40 hours in wiring/cabling/connection topology, personal computers, desktop operating systems (Microsoft Windows/Linux/Unix or any combination), networking and LAN/WAN protocols and standards, network and systems security, problem solving, skills for continuing technical learning, or other coursework specifically related to performance of TAT diagnostic/repair/installation duties. (OFFICIAL/ORIGINAL TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Recent experience (within past 12 months) with direct, hands-on performance of diagnostic/repair/refurbish/deployment tasks for personal computers, printers, scanners, laptops, Thin Clients, Fat Clients, mobile devices, and/or other peripheral equipment; experience in laptop encryption; experience in both a standard desktop network environment and virtual environment that includes diagnosing and isolating trouble issues attributable to CONTINUED ON NEXT PAGE 3

4 each, and the planning, design, testing, installation or connection of peripherals in each environment; experience troubleshooting performance issues related to hardware and software such as Windows and Microsoft Office, security, LAN connectivity, networking, and Internet communications; experience in installation of operating systems and migration from one operating system to another required. Experience in a large network environment preferred. KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS REQUIRED: Demonstrated diagnostic/repair/refurbish/ deployment skills that show increasing responsibility and experience in hardware and software support. Advanced knowledge of information technology concepts, principles, theories and the functions of computer systems; excellent organizational skills with the ability to analyze data logically; ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with team members, management staff, and agency personnel at all hierarchy levels; ability to work independently on tickets and issues and participate cooperatively on group projects; ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies; excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to translate technical issues and descriptions into user-friendly terminology; ability to write clear, concise, and thorough methods, process, and procedure documentation; demonstrated understanding of virtualization concepts, solutions, and practices; previous vendor or employer based training on VMWare Thin App/Thin Client deployment and/or exact on-the-job training and experience in both a standard desktop and a virtualized environment required. Must have ability to lift up to 50 pounds (simulation included in interview). Microsoft Certification preferred. PRINCIPAL CONSULTANT: Inventory #485 College and Career Readiness Division Springfield Office MONTHLY SALARY: Lane 4 Minimum salary $3,946 DUTIES: Reporting to the Division Administrator, provides leadership and technical assistance to local education agencies and other entities to promote school reform and innovation in career and technical education; plans, develops, sets standards and evaluates programs in family and consumer sciences; administers grants and contracts; plans and coordinates professional development activities. Specific duties include: provides leadership to plan, develop and implement quality instructional programs in family and consumer sciences with emphasis on integration and applications aligned with the new Illinois Learning Standards for English Language Arts and Mathematics and Industry/Technical Standards; reviews and recommends approval status of Endorsement for Career and Technical Educator and Endorsement for Provisional Career and Technical Educator certificate applications in the program area; serves as state advisor to teacher associations and student organizations affiliated with family and consumer sciences. Provides technical assistance and other support services to regional systems, administrative and instructional personnel in southwestern region of the state; monitors and evaluates career and technical education programs and grants through on-site visits and regular communication with clientele; assists in the development of grant applications and ensures compliance with state and federal rules and regulations and fiscal and programmatic practices. Provides leadership and consultative services to local and regional personnel for the development and implementation of effective and innovative practices leading to school reform and improved student achievement; utilizes data collection for analysis and evaluation and provides assistance on implementing data-driven continuous improvement strategies. Develops Requests for Proposals; administers grants and contracts; assists in conducting research in the field of career and technical education; prepares reports to meet evaluative, compliance and contractual requirements. Assists in the planning and implementation of in-service training sessions for regional systems, school and agency personnel and other audiences as necessary; collaborates in the delivery of professional development associated with improvement initiatives to institutionalize effective change processes, curriculum innovations and student improvement efforts. 5 Initiates and maintains contact with external resources, business/industry and labor representatives and professional organizations related to assigned program areas in order to sustain and coordinate improved teaching and learning. Serves as a liaison with university teacher education programs to communicate effective reform and restructuring practices; participates in the development of teacher content-area teaching standards and assessments. Assists in the review of new and proposed state and federal legislation and rules and regulations; assists in the development of the state plan for career and technical education; recommends policy and procedures and prepares state and federal performance reports for career and technical education. Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION REQUIRED: Master s Degree in Education or a Bachelor s Degree in Education plus two years of relevant professional experience. Must hold Illinois Professional Educator License with an Endorsement in Family and Consumer Sciences. (OFFICIAL/ORIGINAL TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Two years of experience (in addition to education requirements) teaching in a career and technical related field and/or administrative experience at the K-12 level required. Experience with grants and budgets preferred. KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS REQUIRED: Ability to work in teams; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing to a variety of audiences; knowledge of general research and technology applications; travel required; ability to participate in staff development training and other meetings as requested or required. OTHER/REGIONAL ASSIGNMENTS COOK COUNTY PRINCIPAL CONSULTANT: Inventory #690 Nutrition and Wellness Programs Division Cook County MONTHLY SALARY: Lane 4 Minimum salary $3,946 DUTIES: Reporting to the Division Administrator, performs work ranging from moderate to considerable complexity applying practices and technical expertise in the areas of nutrition, financial management, and child nutrition program management; coordinates monitoring programs with local education agencies, regional offices of education, and other sponsoring organizations for the purpose of determining fiscal and programmatic compliance with applicable federal and state rules and regulations, agency guidelines and the enhancement of the quality of the programs. (This position will work primarily in Cook County. Residency for this position is required within Cook County - to commence no later than 30 days following the date of hire.) Specific duties include: independently, or as a member or leader of a team, conducts monitoring reviews of school food authorities, child care centers, child care home providers and other community organizations to determine fiscal and programmatic compliance with child nutrition program rules and regulations and generally accepted business practices; initiates the development of monitoring objectives and scope; coordinates schedules and timelines related to the completion of cyclical monitoring activities; develops and drafts findings and recommendations; compiles and writes detailed reports of work performed including findings and recommendations; performs quality control reviews of peers work; ensures adequate resolution of findings by participating institutions. Provides technical assistance to school food authorities, child care centers, other community organizations and agency staff; serves as a primary contact for school food authorities, child care centers, other community organizations and agency staff on fiscal, nutrition and programmatic issues related to child nutrition programs. Develops and implements project assignments; assists in the development of divisional information systems and the gathering of division data. Develops and presents training to school food authorities, child care centers, and other community organizations related to child nutrition programs. Performs other duties as assigned. 6 EDUCATION REQUIRED: Master s Degree in Nutrition, Food Service Management, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or Social Services or a Bachelor s Degree in one of the listed areas plus two years of relevant professional experience.
