2 Challenge: Create space for students to meet, study and relax in Harris Stowe s first on-campus housing facility. Provide comfort, residential quality, and advanced technology. Solution: In the Gillespie Residence Hall and Student Center, KI combines comfortable, stylish lounge, stack and task seating with powered tables, a state-of-the-art lectern and efficient office furnishings. According to Pamela Todd, KAI Senior Interior Designer, The depth of product offered by KI fulfilled every need. She adds, The furniture blends with the surroundings and the color scheme contributes to the warm, timeless appeal. Soltíce lounge furniture and Rado tables with custom tops welcome residents and visitors in the lobby. With Soltíce furniture, we get the best of both worlds - great style and field replaceability, says Todd. In the lounges, Eden multiple seating is paired with customized Lola ottomans. In the game room, Venue stand-up height tables with Maestro café stools add a recreational feel along with Maestro stack chairs and Jessa lounge seating. 4 In the computer lab, students can use laptop computers at a table or they can opt for less traditional, more relaxed lounge seating. Students enjoy the flexible set-up of the computer lab, says Baker. They appreciate the studentfocused environment it creates. A Wharton lectern takes center stage in the multi-purpose meeting space. The lectern is customized with the university s logo on the front. It has proved so popular that it gets moved to other buildings or even outdoors for various presentations. The conference room features Synthesis tables and Versa chairs for flexible arrangements. 6 Private offices feature WorkZone desking and Impress task chairs. The reception area includes the WireWorks panel system. KI provides a coherent look and feel for the entire facility including offices, public spaces, and meeting/ study areas. Reputation, breadth of product offering and aggressive pricing through a national group purchasing organization (HRG) were all factors in the selection of KI as an experienced partner. Todd says, There was a tight time frame and early budgets so it was critical to choose a furniture provider who could stay on time and on schedule. The furnishings needed to be flexible, easy to maintain and durable. They get used intensely and still look good. KAI Senior Project Manager Ken Miller agrees, "The furnishings were the most significant part of the overall look. The public spaces are very nice.
