4 AP-FECM Certificate Program The AP-FECM certificate program will be initiated using the six SFM online courses that have already been developed. The AP-FECM certificate will be a low cost program that opened to forest stakeholders including senior forestry students, young faculty and mid-career professionals in the Asia-Pacific region. To receive the AP-FECM SFM program certificate, students will need to complete six courses and pass the final assessment of each course to get a total of 18 credits. EdX Edge web-based course platform will be selected as the provider of the Certificate program
5 Progress of SFM Online Course Development Edge Web-Based SFM Master s Degree Program First 6 SFM Online Courses The six SFM online courses of Phase I is opened for students and experts from all over the world to improve their SFM knowledge. AP-FECM Certificate The certificate program will be the advanced version of online courses, which will be integrated with a more sophisticated learning platform, student enrollment system, and evaluation system. To provide multiple options for course selection, another six courses in tropical topics will be designed to enrich the learning experience from the web-based SFM programs. Furthermore, the twelve SFM core courses will be the fundamental courses for the future Online Master Program in SFM.

7 Web-Based Master of Sustainable Forest Management Web-based Course work (18 credits) UBC Summer School and Field Trip (One month June-July) Final Essay or report (6 credits) Master s Degree (6 credits) The Web-based Master s Program will be organized as a cohort program by the five participating universities involved in the design of the first six SFM Web-based core courses. Future partners may be added as the next six courses developed. The whole Master s program package, including course curricula, instructors, field trip schedule and graduating paper requirements, will be prepared by the participating universities. The host universities will need to obtain all relevant approvals (university, government) to host an on-line Master s program.
8 Scholarships for SFM Web-based program The scholarship will directly connected to the Web-based Master s Program (once it is launched). This brand new scholarship dedicated to AP-FECM SFM Web-based program will add value to the enrollment of the AP-FECM certificate program and the Web-based Master s Program. When completed SFM online courses and obtained the AP-FECM certificate, applicants will be eligible to apply for the scholarship to pursue the remaining requirements of the Web-based Master s Program from any of the participating universities. Applicants have to meet the minimum admission requirements of the host university.
