DORCEY to proceed to 2546 North 30 th Street to assist in the investigation of an apparent. GABIG, CONNELLY, and KOFOED arrived on the scene at 0042 hours. GABIG, CONNELLY, and KOFOED met with Lt. HAYES and Detective NIX from Omaha Police Department and conducted an initial briefing and scene survey. 3 SR#-B May 2006 Page 3 of 0 DETAILS During the initial briefing GABIG, CONNELLY, and KOFOED were advised of the following:! The suspect and the victim work together at Lonestar Steakhouse.! The suspect and victim reportedly had a sexual relationship.! Omaha Police Department (OPD) Detectives were interviewing the suspect at his residence regarding the disappearance of the victim when they made observations that caused them to believe there may be a crime scene. They then contacted the Douglas County Sheriff s Office.! The suspect s aunt owns the residence where the suspect lives.! The aunt s daughter also resides in the residence with the aunt and the suspect.! OPD secured the scene and obtained a search warrant. GABIG conducted an initial scene survey and noted the following observations:! Deputy PRATT started a Crime Scene Entry log documenting access to the secured areas.! Residence described as a four bedroom, three bathroom, split-entry home.! Suspect s bedroom located in the basement.! Basement described as multi level, with one short set of stairs leading down from the front door to the first level; where a connecting door to the garage, a laundry room, a utility closet, a bathroom, and a family room are located.! The suspect s vehicle was parked in the south bay of the two-stall garage.! Suspect s vehicle described as a black Honda Accord with NE license PNT 663.! Vehicle and its contents were impounded and will be examined at the DCSO Crime Lab.! A large black trash bag located on the garage floor just north of the vehicle was observed to contain numerous items, including apparent bloody towels on the top.! A second short set of stairs leads down to the suspect s! Suspect s bedroom had a very perfumed scent, likely due to the two Glade airfresheners and the numerous candles in the room.! Suspect s bedroom described as a single room with a small below ground window well, and a large closet that extends back into a crawl space.! Suspect s bedroom contained a full size bed with headboard, a bedside table, two bookcases, a desk with an office chair, a dresser, a portable cloth clothing closet, and a TV stand with a TV, stereo, and DVD player.! Suspect s bed was located with the headboard against the south wall.! A large (approx. _ the mattress) apparent bloodstain was visible from the foot of the bed on the bottom edge of the mattress; stain tested positive for blood with presumptive Phenolphthalein test.! Location of bloodstain on mattress indicated that the mattress had been flipped over from its original position, transferring blood through a quilt that was located between the mattress and box springs, and onto the box springs.! Apparent blood spatter observed on the south wall, the west wall, and the ceiling.! A stain from each of these areas tested positive with Phenolphthalein.! Apparent blood spatter was also observed on various items of furniture in the room; see section on Bloodstain Search for details.

The bedclothes, blankets, and pillows observed on the floor near the bed were reportedly removed from the bed by OPD officers during the search warrant. FORENSIC SERVICES PROVIDED GABIG provided the following forensic services:! Suspect Processing CONNELLY and GABIG! Photography CONNELLY and GABIG! Videography - CONNELLY! Bloodstain Search CONNELLY and GABIG! Scene Diagram CONNELLY and RETELSDORF! Evidence Collection - GABIG SUSPECT PROCESSING The suspect, Christopher EDWARDS was processed in the living room of the residence as follows:! CONNELLY obtained photographs of suspect; see his report for details.! GABIG obtained inked fingerprints, buccal swabs, fingernail clippings, and fingernail scrapings from the suspect.! CONNELLY obtained pulled head hair samples from the suspect; see his report for details. PHOTOGRAPHY A total of 73 photographs were taken by GABIG depicting the following:! Overall views of exterior and interior of residence and garage.! Midrange views of areas and items in suspect s! Midrange views of interior of suspect s vehicle.! Midrange views of areas of interest and evidence to be collected in suspect s bedroom, taken with and without evidence markers. CONNELLY performed detailed photographic documentation of blood spatter areas noted below and performed specialized luminol photography; see his report for details. All photographic images will be retained in the CSI Division under this SR#. VIDEOGGRAPHY CONNELLY documented the interior and exterior of the residence via digital video; see his report for details. The original tape will be retained in the secure CSI Division under this SR#.

Blood spatter on clock located inside headboard. Blood spatter on side of bedside table nearest bed. White down comforter located on floor near bed. Blood stain on mattress. Blood stain on blue quilt located between mattress and box springs. Scissors located in bedside table. Blue comforter located on floor near bed. Blood spatter on picture frame located on bedside table. Trash bag containing apparent bloody rags located in garage. Green plaid blanket located on floor near bed. Blue sheets located on floor near bed. Paint can located in family room in basement. Ceiling Apparent blood spatter was located on the ceiling in the area of the bed. Numerous small spots were visible to the naked eye. White spots were visible on the ceiling; upon closer examination some areas on the ceiling appeared to have a white coating that was discernable from the normal appearance of the ceiling in surrounding areas. Dark spots were visible through the areas that appeared to have been covered with a white coating. A piece of the ceiling containing an area with the white coating and without was collected for analysis at the Lab. Luminol Processing CSI Investigators used tape to grid the ceiling, and performed Luminol processing of the ceiling, south wall, and west wall of the suspect s Reactions occurred on all three surfaces.

Recovered from floor in suspect's One blue fitted sheet recovered from floor in suspects Originally removed from suspect's bed by OPD. Item V One white left K-Swiss tennis shoe size : recovered from suspect. One white right K-Swiss tennis shoe size: recovered from suspect. 10 SR#-B May 2006 Page 0 of 0 EVIDENCE COLLECTION CONTINUED Upon return to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, GABIG collected several items of evidence from the trash bag recovered in the suspect s garage (Item -3) for preservation purposes. Items collected listed as follows: Item Quantity Description -0 One bag containing numerous hats recovered from item -3 at DCSO Crime Lab Blue towel with apparent soaked blood recovered from item -3 at DCSO Crime Lab. Green towel with apparent soaked blood recovered from item -3 at DCSO Crime Lab. All evidence collected will be retained in the secure DCSO Property and Evidence Division for analysis at the DCSO Crime Lab. No further information at this time.
