As part of our commitment to transparency the outcomes of all misconduct hearings, where the case is found to be proven, will now be published on the M website. Police Officer misconduct is dealt with under the Police (conduct) Regulations 2012, formerly the Police (conduct) regulations Where officers are suspended from duty resignation can only be accepted with the approval of the Deputy Commissioner. Under Police Regulations officers who are not suspended are at liberty to resign if they chose.
15 Unlike Police Officers whose employment is governed by Police Regulations, are governed by Employment Law. Therefore as employees, police staff who are subject to disciplinary proceedings reserve the right to resign from the M with immediate effect up to the point of any disciplinary hearing being convened.
