2 Mission & Vision: Managing Global Value Chains These days, the strategic application of comprehensive Information Systems and Supply Chain Management methods form the backbone of globalization and describe essential success factors of internationally operating companies and business groups. Through connecting strategic business objectives, IT solutions and process optimization potentials can be raised and competitive products can be developed. There is a high demand for holistically educated and well trained managers with a variety of career chances and development opportunities in the industry, trade and services sector. Our Department develops and communicates research and practice methods, concepts and instruments for the strategic management of supply chains and information systems in a scientifically established, result and subject driven way. With this, we aim to achieve excellent performances in research, teaching and executive training, and to contribute to the scientific community. The intensive cross-linking of our core competences and the joint projects with our partners connect research and teaching in the sectors of Purchase, Logistics and Supply Chain Management as well as Process, Knowledge and Information System Management. 2
