Camras, Ph.D. Child Facial Expressions Across Cultures Quantitative study that examined whether differences in expression across cultures were the result of environmental factors within the home or manifestation of inborn traits. Results revealed significant group differences between European- American and adopted Chinese children. This finding suggests that differences in expression are culturally rather than

5 biologically based. Furthermore, findings also indicated that European- American children expressed more positive emotions when presented with sad stimuli.
