2 What is Global Commerce, International Trade and Transportation? The course covers the material you need to know and understand to effectively trade and ship in the global marketplace. The course includes the evolution of international trade and transportation, all critical work processes, compliance requirements and different modes of transportation. The course will enhance your competitiveness in the global marketplace as a seller, buyer or service provider. o Sellers--thoroughly understand the intricacies of what it takes to effectively sell and deliver products to customers internationally. o Buyers--learn how to leverage global competition and understand what it takes to source and transport products from international sources. o Service Providers understand the requirements of international commerce and improve the value add as seen by your customers Who should attend this course? Upon completion of this course, you will: Understand the interaction of all links in the international supply chain Understand all critical work processes required to effectively support international trade, compliance with all regulatory, statutory and legal requirements and the shipping cycle Understand the history and evolution, and the future trends and requirements of international trade and the shipping industry, including containerization. Be able to better forecast the future direction of the industry by understanding the current state of the industry and its future requirements; based on current and future technology. Understand the entire transaction process, including the critical Shipping Cycle, terms of sale, bookings, all the required documentation and prearrival requirements such as AMS, ISF, 10+2, Broker Entries, duties, agents cargo inspections and customs clearances Have a complete overview of Shipping Geography and know all major trade lanes and the associated shipping ports, statistics about commodities, trading rules, regulations and time zones. Know the information required to negotiate freight rates and services Understand Service Contracts, Charges, Fees, Tariffs, and regulatory bodies that oversees the industry (e.g., Federal Maritime Commission), service providers and pricing Know how shipments are containerized, transported, tracked and traced; and what equipment and systems are required to support these processes. Have the ability to determine the best mode of transportation and routing and select the appropriate equipment for your international shipments Be able to prepare all required shipping documentation for export or import shipments. Understand the function of intermediaries (Freight Forwarders, Customs Brokers, Logistics Providers, Agents and NVOCC) Understand the process of planning vessel cargo operations Have toured a terminal and experienced all work processes including gate in and gate out processes, inspections and security procedures

4 How is the course delivered? The course includes instruction with demonstrations, exercises and interactive activities; you learn by seeing and doing. It is taught by experienced professionals and provides the participant with the opportunity to interact and network with other professionals from various segments of the supply chain. Student activities include: Preparing actual documentation for trade and shipping Making actual bookings to export cargo. Routing cargo domestically and internationally Live observation of all processes and equipment required to stow cargo on vessels Decision making based on given facts and circumstances from real life experiences You will be provided a participant manual which includes a shipping geography workbook and numerous sample documents. Facilitators: Linda Wright - VICE PRESIDENT Artemus Group Linda has over 25 years of experience in international shipping and transportation; working directly with major ocean carriers, marine terminals, freight forwarders, brokers and both rail and truck transportation. Linda has worked in all areas of import and export trade which includes documentation, logistics, operations, IT and software development. From , Linda was General Manager for Inchcape Shipping services where a staff of 200 employees provided services for 15 ocean carriers. In 2001 she became the training manager responsible for the training and developing a staff of 500 people. During this time she helped developed the Global Commerce, International Trade and Transportation curriculum. In 2004, Linda joined Artemus Group as Vice President. In her current role, she provides training and assistance for Artemus shipment management software products. Linda is a state certified CEU instructor and a certified trainer of Hazardous Cargo Handling for domestic and international cargo transportation. Linda provides instruction for this course in the states of Virginia, Florida, Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey.

5 Brent Lambiotte, MBA, Instructor Artemus Group Brent Lambiotte has a BA in Industrial Technology Education from Fairmont State University and an MBA from Ohio State University. He has extensive international trade and supply chain experience at Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corporation, Honda of America, and Mercedes-Benz US International. Brent is admitted to practice before the Surface Transportation Board (Interstate Commerce Commission). He is a certified member of both the American Production and Inventory Control Society (CPIM and CSCP) and the American Society of Transportation and Logistics (CTL). He currently teaches undergraduate business classes at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, and APICS certification modules. Registration: Tuition: $995 per person.
