2 Decription of Deliverables 3.1. HEI staff trained on award criteria and QA in PhD To formulate the new award criteria and quality assurance tools for the new PhD programmes, the PCIs will have a seminar in "Criteria for PhD Award and QA in Doctoral Education". Best practices on PhD award criteria and QA all over the world and EU in particular will be discussed The three-day seminar will be held in YSLU and EU peers will lead it. Three representatives from each PCI will participate in it. The seminar will also have post-evaluation survey to check for the effectiveness Award criteria for PhD are defined One of the focuses of the WP is development of award criteria for PhDs. KTH, BSU, UHMF, UdG, and PC HEIs will develop award criteria for PhD comparable with EU accepted criteria and circulate the draft proposal among the partners for broader discussions and feedback. The results of the discussions and feedback will be incorporated into the draft and a final version of PhD Award Criteria will be developed to be further piloted and adopted by the Republic of Armenia QA Standards in PhD Education Defined Another major goal of the WP is definition of quality standards and procedures for PhD education. Based on the defined HEIs Road-maps and Salzburg Principles, WUS, together with ANQA, EQ and RA SCC will prepare a comprehensive proposal of QA standards and procedures (e.g. quality and competencies of supervisors, internationalization, mobility, research, interdisciplinary study programmes ) and circulate it among the academic, administrative staff and PhD students for their feedback and refine Staff trained on internal QA in PhD To ensure the HEI staff is enabled to conduct internal quality assurance drawing on the new QA standards and procedures, a seminar on "QA in PhD Education" will be held at YSU in Yerevan. The seminar will ensure better preparedness of HEIs for external evaluation. The seminar will last three days and about 40 staff members, students will participate. This seminar will be also as a training of trainers since the trained staff will deliver broader in-house trainings at each institution External assessors trained on evaluation methodology To build on the capacity of external evaluators to conduct review of PhD programmes and Research Unit, a training for external assessors will be organized at ANQA. Overall, 10 external evaluators (academic and admin. staff, students) will be trained to use the QA standards and procedures. To ensure broader capacity building the trainees will conduct in-house trainings at RA SCC and ANQA for about 20 experts at national level.

In-house trainings for internal and external assessors The trained internal assessors (academ. admin. staff, students) and external assessors (RA SCC and ANQA experts, students) will conduct in-house trainings at their own institutions for broader capacity building and dissemination. The in-house trainings will last 1.5 days at each HEI, RA SCC and ANQA. Pre- and post-evaluations will be conducted to ensure effectiveness of trainings. 40 staff and students at each HEI and 20 experts at RA SCC and ANQA will be trained during in-house trainings.
