I worked at as a researcher at various academic institutions. As a software developer, I have more than 10 years experience working for a varied set of clients and projects. I have experience with all layers of the "full stack" of web development, from system administration (in Linux), database development (in mysql, postgres, couchdb, sqlite, etc), web server frameworks in Python (pyramid, zope, plone, Django) and front-end development. As a project manager and ICT architect, I have managed small development teams, and know the value of test-driven development and continuous integration. 3 2012-now - CTO at DottCom. DottCom is a system of communication targeted at dentists, that provides the practice with a corporate identity, including a website and activity of SEO. We created a system for managing large numbers of websites and content simultaneously Scientific developer at the Free University of Amsterdam. I was part of the team at the project BiographyNet, which aims to extract structured data from biographical texts using techniques of computer linguistics and machine learning Software architect and project manager. We developed an on-line configurator for office furniture that handles hundreds of configuration options and millions of variants Partner at Madiman. As a part of a collaboration between the university and the private sector, we obtained financing from the EU to study the feasibility of creating an AI-driven Diet Manage for the medical sector 2013-now - Sejarah-Nusantara. For a large digitisation project at the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia, we developed a repository for storing scans and metadata, and a website and a content management system for publishing these data online. The archive contains server hundreds of thousands of digitized manuscripts, and is expected to grow to millions Project manager and architect. For the Huygens Institute in the Netherlands we developed a search index and interface for accessing their body of digitised work to access almost a million digitised and OCR d pages Software architect and lead developer at the Biographical Portal of the Netherlands. The Biographical Portal of the Netherlands aims to collect links and information to all biographical information published in the Netherlands that is published, either online and offline. We were involved in the whole process, from writing the first proposals for the acquisition of funds, the design of the data model and the software architecture, and the digitisation and conversion of the various biographical sources Project manager at the Institute of Dutch History. We are designing and implementing a complete overhaul of the organisation of its content. For a retrodigitization project (the initial project concerned the digitization and manual annotation in XML of pages) we developed a custom browser application. The project consisted of the retro-digitization of 50 years of publications, encoding relevant meta-data in XML, and publishing the result on the web. We published large set of historical databases and collections of digitized documents Development of an internet bookstore. I created a simple web shop for a small book store. Roles: designer and developer. Technologies: Zope, PostgreSQL Online Dictionary of Dutch Women. This website presents a collection of biographies of female historical figures. The collection is created incrementally, online, by a growing group of authors. I designed and created the web application that functions as a collaboration tool for the authors, as a content management system for the biographies Database designer and developer at Pier 13. Pier 13 was an online game developed for schools.i designed and created the database and interface with the Flash application. Unfortunately, the site is not online anymore. This medium sized company realized the high cost of ownership for its Microsoft solution and decides to move a complete open source environment. I recreated their existing database management system (based on MS Access and SQL Server) into an Open Source equivalent (based on mysql, Python and wxwindows) Designer and developer at Securitas B.V..
