Direct the transition of the Addictions Studies Program from CECE to CECH and continue to build partnerships with Community Colleges throughout Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. Continue to Direct the Addictions Studies Program and Certificates and facilitate the hiring and management of approximately 40 adjunct faculty members. (I retired from full time academic administrative responsibilities July 1, 2008.) B. January 1997 to 2001 Academic Director, College of Evening and Continuing Education at the University of Cincinnati; Director Undergraduate Addictions Studies Program; Adjunct Professor CECE; Coordinator of Master s Degree Program in Addictions Studies. My primary responsibilities have been to develop both graduate and undergraduate degree programs in Addictions Studies and to hire faculty and facilitate teacher training in Distance Learning Programs in Addictions Studies. I helped to facilitate the development of an Addictions Studies Counseling Certificate; a Prevention Certificate in Addictions Studies and a certificate in Domestic Violence Counseling. In addition, I helped to develop and implement training in both Video Conferencing and Blackboard Training. I was the recipient of CCAT Kindred Spirit Award. C to 2008 Appointed to the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board by both Governors Taft and Strickland. D. March 14, 1977 to January 1997: U.S. District Court, Southern District of Ohio, Federal Probation Department; Treatment Specialist and Program Development Coordinator E. September 26, 1985 to 1997, Adjunct Assistant Professor, University of Cincinnati, College of Evening and Continuing Education, Teaching Courses in Psychology and Social Work on Drugs and Behavior ("Drugs and Behavior" and Diagnosis and Assessment in Chemical Dependency"); Starting in 1995 to the present time and continuing, helped to develop the Addictions Studies Program for the College of Evening and Continuing
3 Education; and as the current Academic Area Coordinator, have been responsible for course development, helping to hire faculty, public relations and marketing of the Addictions Studies Program (Recipient of the Faculty Tribunal Award and the Dean's Faculty Excellence Award) F. March 17, 1975 to March 14, 1977, Director of Treatment, and Program Director, Vedanta House Therapeutic Community; operated as a joint venture with Talbert House and the Central Community Health Board. G. August 1, 1973 to March 13, 1975, Probation Officer, Cincinnati Municipal Court H. September 15, 1971 to September 1972, Probation Officer, Milwaukee County Adult Probation Department, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I. October 1969 to August 1971, Military Service, United States Marine Corps, Republic of South Vietnam. J. January 1969 to October 1969, Probation Officer, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. V. Employment History Continued A. In my position with the United States Probation Office, as the District's Program Development Coordinator, I was responsible for all program development in the Southern District of Ohio. My first duties with the Probation office were as a line officer specializing in drug cases, writing presentence reports and developing employment and treatment programs. In 1984, I became the Substance Abuse Treatment Specialist for the District. I provided direct therapy to offender clients and conducted diagnostic testing and provided reports to the courts and to line Probation officers. In addition, I was for the District's Federal Contracting Program and manage the largest part of the Probation Department's Budget (apart from salaries). This entailed administering and monitoring fourteen contract facilities (including mental health programs) throughout the Southern District of Ohio. I also monitored and provided supervision to four (4) Substance Abuse Treatment Specialists in Dayton, Cincinnati, and Columbus; and consultation to general probation staff. Part of my duties also included conducting quarterly audits in all contract
4 facilities to assure both clinical compliance and fiscal responsibility for each program. At the end of each contract year, I prepare and submit cost projections to operate our Substance Abuse and Mental Health Programs which have been funded at an annual stipend of over $500,000. Another feature of this position was to be an intermittent consultant and advisor to the Administrative Office in Washington, D.C. on matters related to substance abuse. I was a member of the initial task force which helped to develop the nation wide Drug Aftercare Program for the U.S. District Courts and I provided training to new Federal Probation Officers at the Maritime Training Institute in Linthicum, Maryland. I have written articles for The Federal Probation Quarterly, The Marine Corps Gazette; and book reviews in matters related to addictions for McGraw Hill. B Talbert House As the director of a Talbert House Program, I had responsibilities that were both treatment orientated and administerial, in managing a twenty four-hour crisis orientated Therapeutic Community. 1. Administrative Responsibilities a. Supervise a staff of eight (8), full- time therapists and on part-time psychiatrist b. Assist the Executive Director of Talbert House in budget planning and management of a budget in excess of $300,000 dollars c. Provide community relations, particularly with the Criminal Justice System d. Utilization and Peer Review (Quality Assurance) e. Vice Chairman of the Mental Health Board Coordinating Committee f. Component Director CCHB 2. Treatment Responsibilities Overall coordination of:
5 a. Case management/treatment planning b. Group therapy c. Educational Programs d. Occupational and Career Development C. Hamilton County Municipal Court (Cincinnati) Probation Officer Working with Substance Abuse caseload D. United States Marine Corps My duties in the Marine Corps were three fold. I was a member of the Senate Subcommittee Investigating Team, which conducted an investigation into the prevalence of Drug Abuse and Drug Distribution in the Republic of South Vietnam. As part of this mission, I worked with the CID (Criminal Investigation Department) in the following capacities: 1. Go out to various Marine Corps Unit's Civil Action Groups (CAG); and while acting as a member of a platoon, observe drug using and selling activities. 2. Report my findings to Headquarters and upon my return from the field, compile a statistical assessment of all criminal investigations into the Drug Abuse/Distribution Problem in the Republic of South Vietnam. 3. Provide Training and Education to General Staff, Field Officers and Enlisted Personnel. Recipient of Navy Achievement Award (with Combat V) F.
