6 Features of 50/50 Model Both languages are used equally for instruction at all grade levels All subjects are taught in both languages at all grade levels beginning in kindergarten All students develop literacy skills in both languages beginning in kindergarten 6

37 Conclusion This is only one way of building a long-term daily class schedule This is a SAMPLE schedules that can be used in the 50/50 DLP model for grades K-5 These sample schedules closely reflect the 70/30 and 50/50 DLP models in LAUSD, as well as El Paso Independent School District in Texas 37
38 Conclusion However, there are school districts that use alternative class schedules Difficult to generalize and pin point the most effective scheduling practices, since researchers are not able to isolate scheduling by itself as the cause of program success or failure Decision on class scheduling left to schools and local districts, provided that the schedule is aligned to the features of the program models as outlined in the District DL policy, as well as other District and State mandates 38
