5 A HISTORY OF TRADITIONS THE INITIAL STAGES the property of San Felice belongs to the noble Del Taja family the year of a big change the property is acquired by the industrial group Aesculapius. Thanks also to the arrival of Enzo Morganti, this period represents the start of great revival for the estate, the village and its activities. GROWTH AND SPECIALIZATION 1970s At this time new hectares of vineyards and olive groves were planted. TOWARDS QUALITY 1978 this period was characterized by the beginning of a strong evolution of the Chianti Classico territory. San Felice is acquired by the Milan Insurance Group RAS, now Allianz which started the restructuring of the vineyards and the building of a new cellar, allowing the winery to develop ultra-premium viticulture. PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE AND EXPANTION 1981 acquisition of the prestigious Chianti Classico estates Villa Pagliaia and San Vito acquisition of Campogiovanni in the prestigious area of Montalcino.

7 VITIARIUM (VINE COLLECTION) Alongside with the wine production, San Felice has been deeply involved in an intense viticultural research and experimentation activity San Felice begins its research on revived indigenous grapes in the Vitiarium, a unique experimental plot for assortment and size. 1,6 ha / 4 acres of vineyards 231 grape varieties
8 PRODUCTION Vine growing The work of pruning and vineyard management ensures a quantity of grape that allows good uniformity of maturation. The grapes are selected by hand and mechanically. Goal: 1 1,5 kg / 2,2 3,3 lb per vine Vinification The vinification takes place in steel tanks with long period maceration on the skins (10-25 days) allowing a complete extraction of the noble elements.

23 SAN FELICE MILESTONES FIRST SUPER TUSCAN San Felice produced Vigorello (that means wine with strength ). First wine produced in the Chianti Classico region without the use of white grapes, as required by the production code at that time. Vigorello is considered the precursor of the Super Tuscan category. IL GRIGIO Il Grigio da San Felice dated 1969, represents Gregorio Vecelio, the father of the painter Tiziano and captain of the Centuria from Pieve di Cadore (Belluno). SINGLE VINEYARD the first year of Poggio Rosso, at the time a rare example of Chianti Classico crȗ, reflecting San Felice s will of valorizing the Appellation. The name of the bottle comes from the homonymous vineyard.
