1 2 Oklahoma SCHOLARSHIP 0 Competition SATURDAY, MARCH 12, 2016 Each year, the Oklahoma Hall of Fame and Gaylord-Pickens Museum make available more than $4,000,000 in cash scholarships and tuition grants to high school students who have studied Oklahoma s history and heritage. In the Oklahoma Scholarship Competition, students in grades 9 through 12 take a test on Oklahoma history at one of 14 testing sites in the state. Students compete for scholarships in the county in which they attend school. Those with high scores in each county receive a minimum of a or tuition grant to an Oklahoma college or university. Each of Oklahoma s 77 counties has at least eight scholarships available. Scholarships are made possible through generous donations by individuals, corporations, and Oklahoma colleges and universities. TEST DATE & TIME Saturday, March 12 Students must arrive by 9:00 a.m. for the 9:30 a.m. examination. WHERE THE TEST IS GIVEN Test sites are provided statewide. See full list on following page. WHO IS ELIGIBLE Students in grades 9-12 who attend school in Oklahoma. SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE At least eight $1,000 scholarships are available in each of Oklahoma s 77 counties. WHAT THE TEST COVERS Oklahoma s history, people, and geography. Westville: Westville High School 14. Webbers Falls: Webbers Falls Public Schools Event Center TESTING SITES & PROCEDURES Test sites have been provided statewide. Students must take the examination at the test site they register for. The examination will be given at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at the designated testing sites. Students should arrive no later than 9:00 a.m. to sign in and prepare for the testing. There is a 90-minute time limit on completion of the examination. CONFIRMATION PROCESS The registration slip provided below must be returned to the Oklahoma Hall of Fame no later than Friday, February 26. All students must be pre-registered to participate. Confirmation forms will be ed to the address provided on the registration slip between March 2 and March 4. If you do not receive confirmation on March 4 by 5 p.m., or you have questions, please call Gini Campbell at or toll free Due to space limitations, do not register unless you intend to participate. Copies of the registration slip will be accepted. Immediate family of Oklahoma Hall of Fame and Gaylord-Pickens Museum directors and staff are not eligible to participate. Registrants must be legal residents. TERMS The cash scholarships and tuition grants will be presented in the Spring at the Gaylord-Pickens Museum in. Recipients will be notified in advance. Students can earn a maximum of one $1,000 cash scholarship and one tuition grant as a result of their performance during their four years of eligibility. However, only one scholarship can be earned per year through this competition. SCHOLARSHIP PRESENTATION All tuition grants and scholarships will be presented on April 13 during a ceremony at the Gaylord-Pickens Museum.
