1 Jb Descriptin Pst: General Manager Centre: Lndn Grade: 11a Reprting t: Head f Centre Operatins (Suth) Main functin f the pst: T lead a multi functinal team t ensure the effective peratinal management f the Lndn Wetland Centre in line with the Trust s plicies and prcedures, with fcus n achieving financial, cnservatin and visitr engagement strategies, culminating in the achievement and delivery f the Trust s agreed crprate and business bjectives. Supervisry Respnsibilities: 7 direct reprts, including Marketing, Trading (incrprating Catering & Retail), Learning, Grunds & Facilities, Vlunteering and Administratin, each having teams f their wn, including vlunteers. Hurs wrked: 37.5 hurs per week, 5 days ut f 7 Main duties f the pst: 1. T lead and inspire the Centre staff t meet perfrmance bjectives thrugh clear cmmunicatins, setting expected standards f wrk and ensuring all staff and vlunteers are engaged in develping the business and driving Lndn t further success and recgnitin. 2. T be respnsible fr the safety, welfare and enjyment f staff, vlunteers and visitrs, including children and vulnerable adults. 3. T ensure the Centre is delivering in line with WWT s agreed crprate strategic plan, assciated annual bjectives and key perfrmance indicatrs, taking necessary crrective actin if/when failings are identified. 4. T ensure the Centre is achieving the highest standards f custmer care in relatin t WWT visitrs and is achieving r exceeding any set key perfrmance indicatrs; annual means f mnitring perfrmance will include WWT s visitr survey and the VAQAS assessment undertaken by Visit England. Where areas fr imprvement are identified, agreeing necessary actin plans with the Head f Centre Operatins (Suth) t ensure the necessary crrective actin is implemented within set deadlines. 5. T ensure the Centre is at all times managed in accrdance with the Trusts stated plicies, practices and prcedures. 6. T achieve the highest standards f presentatin and maintenance with regards t WWT Grunds/Reserves/Buildings and create slutins where prblems are identified r standards fall belw thse expected. This includes wrking with the relevant inhuse experts t ensure that all aspects f animal management are undertaken in

2 line with accepted standards f animal husbandry and that all criteria are met t fulfill and exceed ur legal respnsibilities. 7. T ensure the Centre is being managed in accrdance with WWT s Emplyment and Health & Safety Plicies and the Centre team is utilising the advice and expertise f the WWT Health & Safety Manager & HR Department where/when apprpriate. 8. T play an integral rle in ensuring effective jint wrking and tw-way cmmunicatin between the Centre and Headquarters Directrates, allwing fr an understanding f the agreed crprate strategies (WWT Business Plan ) and plicies & prcedures. T include, but nt limited t:- Financial management Fundraising Centre develpment prjects Membership recruitment Marketing and PR Reserve management and Cnservatin prgrammes Grunds management & Animal welfare management Visitr Engagement & frmal Educatin Vlunteering Crprate identity standards and brand awareness Admissins Trading Furthermre t help identify ways in which the Centre can play an integral rle in helping t shape future plicies and prcedures. 9. T prduce the Centres annual perating budget, thrughly assessing the prpsed levels f incme and expenditure and ensuring apprpriate supprting justificatin is prvided prir t presentatin t the Head f Centre Operatins (Suth). Once agreed, ensure the Centre is achieving the effective management f said budgets, including meeting incme generatin targets (thrugh visitatin, membership recruitment and secndary incme) and cntrl f expenditure and any assciated key perfrmance indicatrs. 10.T ensure the effective recruitment, develpment and perfrmance management f Centre staff, ensuring prmpt reactin t issues that are identified and adherence t agreed deadlines. 11.T ensure the Centre adpts a crprate WWT apprach t all activities. 12.In assciatin with the Directr f Operatins and Head f Centre Operatins (Suth) yu will play an integral rle in the develpment and nging review f WWT s business and crprate strategic plans and bjectives. 13.T ensure the Centre develps and maintains gd relatinships with lcal cmmunities and ther pints f influence /imprtance bth with regards t the centre and als t WWT s prfile and standing. 14.T assist the Head f Centre Operatins (Suth) in verseeing land and prperty leases and purchase matters in respect f the centre.

3 In additin t the duties and respnsibilities listed, the pst hlder is required t perfrm any ther reasnable duties that may be assigned by the supervisr shwn abve, frm time t time. This is a 364 day peratin, and the rle will require wrk during weekends, public hlidays and sme evenings in accrdance with business needs.
