3 Definitions of Computer Ethics Computer ethics is the analysis of the nature and social impact of computer technology and the corresponding formulation and justification of policies for the ethical use of such technology. (Johnson) To integrate computing technology and human values in such a way that the technology advances and protects human values, rather than doing damage to them. computer ethics identifies and analyzes the impacts of information technology on such social and human values as health, wealth, work, opportunity, freedom, democracy, knowledge, privacy, security, selffulfillment, etc. (Bynum) 3
