2 Accreditation is the process that determines the educational quality provided by the institution. This process measures MCC's performance in the areas of academic quality, integrity, innovation, diversity, inclusiveness, service, collaboration, and learning. The evaluations are conducted by the Higher Learning Commission, or HLC 2
3 The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) is an independent corporation and one of two commission members of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA), which was founded in 1895 as one of six regional institutional accreditors in the United States. The Higher Learning Commission accredits, and thereby grants membership in the Commission and in the North Central Association, degreegranting post-secondary educational institutions in the North Central region 3
4 MCC has been accredited by the HLC continuously since 1929 MCC maintains accreditation via the Program to Evaluate and Advance Quality (PEAQ) PEAQ consists of an institutional self-study, an evaluation by a team of trained peer reviewers (the Site Visit), and final decisionmaking by the Commission through three panels 4
5 Scheduled for October 25-27, 2010 A detailed meeting schedule will come shortly The schedule is set.keep in mind that a site visit occurs once in every 10 years Everyone will have at least one opportunity to meet with team members This is an opportunity to share the MCC story as well as the story of your own program or department 5
