6 Ohio Health Information Partnership Seven (7) Regional Partners providing Outreach to PPCPs Responsible for 6,000 PPCPs in 77 counties within Ohio 5,600+ PPCPs currently registered with program (92% of goal) State designated HIE CliniSync Medicity 6

7 The Challenge To guide thousands of PPCPs, without an EHR, through a timely selection and implementation process. How do we Actively engage and educate small practices in this complex technology project who already have limited time and resources? Manage 3 rd party consulting providers with varying skill and experience levels? Monitor all of this activity to deliver a consistent process? Scale this effort to manage a project involving 7 regional partners and 60+ consultants? Accomplish all of these tasks fast enough to survive ONC timelines and financial limitations??? 7

8 Finding a Solution The Ohio Health Information Partnership formed an EHR Implementation and Workflow Work Group to address these issues (mid-10) How best to provide assistance to PPCPs with EHR selection and implementation? Should OHIP build or buy? Found the Welch Allyn EHR Prep-Select Tool through a referral by one of our MDs who also sits on our Board; Dr. Gregg Alexander 8

9 EHR Prep-Select? Why REC Benefits Broad application for PPCP s from MDs who haven t begun their EHR search to those well on their way Leverages diverse REC consulting resources on-line access to common project plan and dashboard tracking tools Reproducible and scalable process proven training program and remote service delivery format Streamlines preparation and selection process positions practices for EHR selection and implementation process 9

10 Additional Benefits Smooth transition to apply program outside of subsidized PPCPs to specialists (Ohio Optometric Association, as well as Chiropractors & Podiatrists). Prep-Select will become one part of a three-part program for physicians to receive up to 20 Category-1 Performance Improvement CMEs (PI CME). 10
