3 Terminology There are many different types of Enterprise and IT Architect with many organizations using different titles to designate the Architect who leads an Enterprise Architecture project Unfortunately the lack of definition of roles results in misunderstanding and miscommunication when recruiting and filling the roles of Architect The TOGAF Skills Framework was the first to publicly define the roles for the Enterprise Architect. Contributed by Architecting the Enterprise The industry is seeking to develop industry consensus regarding usage of the terms For example The Open Certified Architect from The Open Group SLIDE 3 of 23

4 Open Certified Architect (Open CA) Launched by The Open Group in mid 2005 as IT Architect Certification Rebranded in 2011 as Open Certified Architect Based on knowledge, experience and competence Certification based on peer review (face-to-face or video conference) 3990 architects certified to end of June 2014 Level 3 Distinguished Level 2 Master Level 1 Certified SLIDE 4 of 23
