You ll recognize quite quickly, that the Island-Lifestyle has nothing to do with what you were used to, and shurely you ll adapt yourself faster as you might think! We hope that the information you get in the following text will simplify your time before, after and during your stay on this marvelous island. 4 INTERNATIONAL On the following pages you will find useful and necessary information about studying and living at the beautiful Island of Lanzarote. The EUTL (Escuela Universitaria de Turismo de Lanzarote) receives every semester exchange students from all over the world who are participating in well-known exchange programs like ERASMUS, ERASMUS MUNDIS, etc. 4
5 WHERE IS THE EUTL? The EUTL is situated in the village of Thih Tahiche, in the center of the island. From the capital, Arrecife, you can reach it by a 10 minutes drive using the public transport t or by car. 5

7 SPANISH COURSE To improve your Spanish level the EUTL offers each semester Spanish lessons for beginners where you can participate during your stay in Lanzarote. 7
8 COME TO THE EUTL The different mobility programs at a European and world level will allow you to access to the EUTL as a student, a teacher and/or services and administrative staff. 9 ACCOMMODATION The EUTL has no own student residence, therefore it is necessary that students are looking for a place to stay. To simplify your search, here we have some adresses from people p offering rentals. Arrecife is one of the cheapest village to stay on the island. For 400 euros (bills incl.) you can find a central flat with two bedrooms. The apartments ARRECIFE PLAYA, just in front of the main beach in Arrecife are offering big one-bedroom flats, all with sea view, for 400 euros (bills incl.) without asking for any type of contracts or deposit. 10 DOCUMENTATION FOR FOREIGN CITIZENS N.I.E. What is a Residencia N.I.E.? Why a N.I.E.? 11 MONEY MANAGEMENT Before leaving your home country, it is recommended to informe yoursellf about your bank- account conditions and if you have the possibility to draw out money tax free in European countries. If this is not the case, there are a lot of online banks offering online tax free accounts which gives you the possibility to draw out money in all Europe without paying any taxes. There is also the possibility to open a bank-account in Lanzarote following the next steps. 11
12 MONEY MANAGEMENT EU CITIZENS RESIDENTS: Citizens of the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein, should be identified with the following documents: Valid passport or identity card of the origin country (with photo). Certificate of Registration as a European Citizen: This document is issued in the Immigration Office, Police Station. This document includes the NIE. For tax purposes, it is required the NIE (which provide that in the European Citizen Certificate t as already included), d) it is issued in police and Civil Guard stations. NON-RESIDENT: Valid passport or identity card with photo. NIE or NIF, which can be obtained at the Tax Agency with the model

18 INSURANCE ONCAMPUS The Internalization and Cooperation Vice-rectorship (ICV) places at your disposal a university insurance policy, every mobility incoming and outgoing ULPGC student must subscribe. Currently, through the company Europea Seguros de Viaje (ERV), and commercialized through the insurance brokerage SILVAON, S.L., the ICV offers two accident insurance policies and medical assistance policies depending on whether you are a student, educational staff and investigator (PDI) or administration and service staff (PAS). 20 TOURISM IN LANZAROTE It is not just the wonderful weather during all year which makes Lanzarote interesting, also its amazing vulcanic landscape and the big variety of extraordinary beaches makes a stay here unforgetable. There are many things to do during your free time like hiking, surfing, sailing, snokeling, diving, etc.; and thanks to the perfect temperatures, you can do each of these activities all year long. Without a doubt,you should definitly visit the island La Graciosa and Alegranza in the north of Lanzarote and La Isla de Lobos in front of Fuerteventura. There you can feel, see and taste life in its original and wild way! Don t miss it!
