2 CALLING ALL AGENTS! Your Mission should you choose to accept it - is to be a part of the hottest tradition for Winnipeg Families: The Ice Crystal Gala. Now in its ninth year, The Ice Crystal Gala is a one of a kind, black-tie event for families and Foundation friends that raises much needed funds for the Children s Hospital. Since its inception, the Gala has raised over $1.4 million to support the Children s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba s efforts to provide specialized pediatric care throughout Manitoba, North Western Ontario and Nunavut. This magical evening is a wonderful opportunity to entertain clients and their families while showing your company is connected to the community. With over 900 professionals and their families in attendance at the RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg, the Ice Crystal Gala provides an evening of fantastic kids activities, great musical entertainment and unique auction prizes, making it a truly memorable experience. Last year, the Ice Crystal Gala raised over $400,000 net, successfully providing financial support to help renovate the Children s Hospital Playroom. On top of this success, the Children s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba was able to purchase 15 Sleeper Chairs so parents can stay in the same room with their child during medical treatment. Not only did the Gala make a difference in the hospital, it also made a difference in the lives of Winnipeggers by contributing the leftover turkey dinners to Siloam Mission & Agape Table.

3 This year, funds raised from the 2015 Ice Crystal Gala will assist the following: The Cutera Laser is used in the treatment of underdeveloped ears, hairline cleft palates and defects in blood vessels. Over 40 patients a year with multiple therapies will benefit greatly from this equipment. The KTP Laser System is a tool that will allow for the best possible hearing outcomes for patients with skin tumours in their ears. It also has the potential to reduce the number of surgeries required and the need for hearing aids. There is only one Leica Clinic Microscope at the Children s Hospital for three exam rooms. The purchase of an additional microscope will help with patient flow. Rigid Third Ventriculostomy Instruments and Telescopes are used in emergent situations when a child has a spinal or brain injury. Currently, the Children s Hospital does not own this type of equipment and must borrow from the adult department. Having their own set will allow for better patient care and response time. The 2015 Ice Crystal Gala will also fund a position in the new Women s Hospital. The Family Support Program Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that hospitalized infants receive the stimulation they need through the Volunteer Cuddler Program. Isolation of these vulnerable infants may be associated with poorer developmental outcome. This program is needed to ensure the optimal outcome for all of our infants. As a supporter of the Children s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba, you are making an investment in the future of over 120,000 children that pass through our doors each year 54,000 of those are brought in, carried in or wheeled in to the emergency department 140 each day.
