5 Status and contributors > There will be established a new Agency within the City of Oslo to build the Fornebu Metro Line. How Sporveien will take part in the further planning and building is not yet decided. > Area Development Masterplan for the first 3,1 km is approved, and the rest is in process. > Øystein Grov at Ruter, is responsible for the masterplan. Norconsult acts as consultant engineers. > Norconsult, Nils Helleland in charge, has made the illustrations in this presentation. > Engineering geologist has been Øivind Dammyr > Tunnel excavation method is not decided 5

7 The main objective of the Fornebu Line: Improves Public transportation, in an area under transformation, close to Oslo center The solution should reduce traffic on the roads Have capacity for future growth Enable urban development Strengthen the established transport hubs 7

9 What is the Metro line in Oslo? > 50 years, established 1966 > Local public transportation > Urban > Close to buildings and infrastructure > Short distances between the stations > Turnouts between some of the stations. > Not any goods traffic > High-density passengers > Length of stations, minimum 120 meters To be attractive it is necessary with high frequency and short travelling time, door-to-door. Therefore, the stations must be located near where people work, live, or where there is short distance to train, tram, and buses for quick changes of mean of transportation. It must be easy to access by foot and bike. 9
