Research 2014: Bandyopadhyay, k. & Bandyopadhyay, S., Investigating the Factors Influencing Participation in College Study Abroad Programs, Co-Principal Investigator, Lamar University (Research Enhancement Grant). This study will investigate the factors that influence student participation in college study abroad programs. We posit that students' general perceptions regarding the study abroad experience and their expectations of intercultural awareness from study abroad programs will impact their perceptions of personal growth, professional development, and intellectual growth to be derived from such programs. The expectations regarding personal growth, professional development, and intellectual growth will, in turn, directly impact students' intention to participate in study abroad programs. The relationships between the influencing factors and students' intention to participate will be measured via survey research : Bandyopadhyay, S. Investigating the Antecedents and Consequences of Consumers' Online Privacy Concerns, Principal Investigator, Lamar University Research Enhancement Grant. This study investigates the factors that influence the online privacy concerns of consumers, and the outcomes of such concerns. Online privacy concerns are impacted by consumers' perceived vulnerability, perceived ability to control information, Internet literacy, social awareness, and background cultural factors. The possible consequences of privacy concerns are unwillingness to provide information online, rejection of e-commerce, or unwillingness to use the Internet. The interrelationships among the influencing factors and the outcomes will be measured via survey research. The results will benefit both e-commerce firms that hope to reduce consumer fears about online privacy, and consumers seeking to protect personal information. Teaching
