2 Additional Support Needs: Where can I get more information or advice? The Education (Additional Support for Learning) (Scotland) Act 2004 introduced a new legal framework for ensuring support for children and young people who need some additional help with their learning in working towards achieving their full potential. It also promoted partnership working among all those supporting children and young people. This Act has now been amended further by the Education (Additional Support for Learning) (Scotland) Act Where can I get more information or advice? The first point of contact for all help and advice is the Head Teacher at the school attended by your child. The Head Teacher will be able to provide information related to your child s learning and teaching and should be able to answer any questions you may have. The head of the school may also be able to direct you to other support or services which may help you and your child.
