8 SPEAKERS PROFILE Katalin Gallyas Open Innovation Policy Advisor City of Amsterdam (CTO Office) Netherlands Currently responsible for setting up an Open Innovation Project team in Amsterdam that embraces Open Data based solutions, Crowdsourcing platforms and citizen centric open source mobile apps development. Katalin acts as an interface between developers, tech society, the local government and develops links to the European Commission / Innovation program Horizon Primarily she is supporting the concept of an open innovation ecosystem for cities positioned at intersection of app developers, innovation agencies, start up accelerators, urban planners, smart city representatives and policy makers. As local project leader of 3 EU projects from 2011, focused on open source app development, interoperable ICT smart toolkits and API based civic app repositories and commons among EU cities, Katalin has played a lead role in on Open Data and Open Innovation and recent Horizon2020 bids aim to continue and expand these activities. The main concept in her work is an interactive, participatory and transformative local government that will leverage emerging ICT technologies / social media. Since 2013 Katalin was a steering member of the EU city network: EUROCITIES Open Data and Smart Cities Working Groups and from 2014Co-Chair. She was actively involved in app developers events, hackathons and Apps for Amsterdam between 2011and From 2014 her role has increasingly involved advising many local city governments and SME s on business development around innovation management and fundraising. Katalin graduated in the Netherlands (Master of Economics- Strategy, Business consulting, Open University, Heerlen) and in Hungary (Foreign Affairs Studies and Trade Management at the Budapest Trade and Business University). Khoong Chan Meng Director & CEO Institute of Systems Science National University of Singapore Singapore Mr Khoong Chan Meng is the Director and CEO of the Institute of Systems Science at the National University of Singapore (NUS-ISS). He brings over 25 years of international experience in the information and communication technology industry. Prior to joining NUS-ISS, Mr Khoong was the Group CIO of RGE, where he oversaw IT investments and drove programmes in IT planning & governance, innovation and business transformation. Before that, he was the Government CIO of the State of Qatar, leading the national ICT policy and strategy development. Before relocating to Qatar, Mr Khoong held leadership positions in Electronic Data Systems Corporation, Atos Origin, Singapore Computer Systems, National Computer Board, and Information Technology Institute. He was the founder and leader of several management consulting and professional service organisations, and was consulting for clients in both public and commercial sectors. 9 Dr. Nick Tate Director of the Australian Government s Research Data Storage Infrastructure (RDSI) Project University of Queensland Australia Dr Nick Tate is Director of the Australian Government s Research Data Storage Infrastructure (RDSI) project which is based at the University of Queensland (UQ). RDSI is a $50m project funded under the Super Science initiative which aims to transform the storage of research data throughout Australian Universities and Research Institutions.Prior to this role, he was Associate Director of the Australian Research Collaboration Service (ARCS) which developed and deployed cloud computing and cloud storage services for researchers across Australia. In this role, he was based at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). He was previously both IT Director at UQ and the Director of AusCERT. He is also a Director of Higher Ed Systems Pty Ltd, National Treasurer of the Australian Computer Society (ACS), Chair of the eresearch Australasia conference and was Chair of the World Computer Congress in He is currently Chair of the ICT Industry Workgroup representing the ICT industry to the Queensland Government. Prior to UQ, Nick worked on the development of anti-missile missile systems for Royal Navy Warships, before spending twenty years working for investment banks, eighteen years in London and then two years with Macquarie Bank in Sydney. He was Head of IT for the United Bank of Kuwait in London during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in the fi rst Gulf war when there was a run on the bank and many strange requests from Baghdad! Nick holds a Bachelor s degree in Physics from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, a Master s degree in Computer Science and a PhD in IT security. He is also a Chartered Engineer, a Chartered IT Professional, a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society and a Fellow of the ACS. Siu Yow Wee Director Passenger Service SMRT Corporation Singapore Mr Siu Yow Wee currently helms the SMRT Passenger Service Department as a Director. During his time at the Passenger Service Department, he undertook the onerous mission of transforming the customer service level across SMRT and has been championing this cause since Mr Siu was the man of choice for this Service position as his experience with SMRT spanned across two of SMRT s main Businesses: Trains and Buses. From 2009 to 2011, Mr Siu was the Dy Director at the Bus Operations department where he managed 2000 Bus Captains and operated 1000 Buses. Thereafter, in 2011, he was appointed as the Chief Engineer at the SMRT Circle Line and was commissioned to run the operations of all 30 Stations in the Circle Line. The task was arduous but Mr Siu showcased his management mastery and innovation in running a new set up. This eventually led to his current appointment as the head of the PSD in Ansh Patnaik VP, Product Marketing Delphix Director for industry solutions in the security software division of HP. Ansh has been in the data security and analysis space for 15 years in product management, product marketing and sales engineering roles at ArcSight, BindView, Symantec, Omniva Policy Systems and MicroStrategy. He has been featured as a contributing writer and speaker in for CIO and CSO Magazines, SANS, IANS, GSN and various other industry specifi c publications and events. Ansh has an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley and an MS in operations research from Columbia University. Donald Pressley Senior Vice President Booz Allen Hamilton Booz Allen Hamilton Senior Vice President Donald Pressley is General Manager and market lead for the fi rm s engagements in the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asia Nations) region. Mr. Pressley s primary area of expertise is on assisting other governments to expand and improve their own capacities to meet today s global challenges and to modernize their capabilities. He brings over 35 years of experience in providing such services to governments around the world. Mr. Pressley has been with Booz Allen for over 14 years, leading assignments across the globe. He has led teams in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa as well as Europe & Eurasia. He has assisted with institutional building, economic development and diversifi cation, business planning, technology enhancement and other programs designed to improve national capability. Now based in Singapore, Mr. Pressley will continue to focus on bringing Booz Allen s breadth and depth of experience to public and private sector clients across the ASEAN region. Before joining Booz Allen in 2001, Mr. Pressley was a Senior Foreign Service offi cer at the US Agency for International Development (USAID). His career included assignments in Southeast Asia, the Middle East & Europe. He was the Assistant Administrator for Europe and Eurasia, and acting Administrator. His responsibilities included close interaction with the Department of State, National Security Council, and US Congress in developing and implementing foreign assistance policies and programs. He was also the key architect of the design of the programs of assistance to Central and Eastern Europe and Eurasia. He developed the strategic framework governing all strategies for the 27 countries under his purview, and led the creation of the Europe and Eurasia Bureau s development strategy, including the design of the Enterprise Funds that invest in private business across the region. Mr. Pressley has broadened his consulting experience by serving on the board of the Society for International Development, serving on the board of the Business Civic Leadership Center, advisor to the World Bank Evaluation Department, and teaching at the MSFS program of Georgetown University.
