2 ABCTRACT The purpose of making this website is to design a dynamic web application that is used to disseminate information both quickly and easily. At this point the web application has a lot of that is dynamic, interactive and task oriented for use in information systems, telecommunications, and others. In this final project AJAX method is used to create a website Program Study of Computer Engineering. The purpose of utilization as AJAX is to make web possible so as to increase interactivity, speed and usability of a web application. MySQL is used to create the required database. Because the concept of a database, especially for selection or selection of data entry, which allows the operation of the data is done automatically with ease. Results of the implementation of the computerized data administrator setup, the dynamic nature of the web is made so that the admin can add or fill in the data whether it is a data, news, event announcements and information. 10 CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Background The development of web applications rapidly growth since the advent of internet technology is helpful in the ease and speed of delivery, delivery and receipt of the information. Starting from companies, schools, colleges, and institutes or other organizations have many utilize a web application in the activities of promotion, learning and other activities where delivery is needed, the spread and acceptance of information so as provide ease for users (user) in need. The Web has grown rapidly both in terms of usage, size, language used and its complexity. Web applications in the beginning it was just a web site that is static and navigated oriented, as well as more widely used as a product or company profile brochure online. At this point the web application has a lot of that is dynamic, interactive and task oriented for use in information systems, telecommunications, and others. In the early years the World Wide Web is only used for academicians and research, but now the World Wide Web use for business and entertainment. Therefore with the development of this technological advancement, the author makes a web site CE (Computer Engineering) State Polytechnic Medan, which previously across state Polytechnic Medan do not already have a website CE (Computer Engineering) method, which uses AJAX (asynchronous Java script And XML). 10

How the presentation of information and facilities. 2. What steps are done so that web applications can be accessed quickly and easily. 3. What ideas will be applied so as to make the web look great demand of user. 4. How is the information in a web application can be updated easily at the desired time. 1.3 Scope of Project As for the terms of the final assignment is : 1. Make dynamic web design creation as a website that provides information for the user both among the general public well as from the State Polytechnic Medan itself that need information about Program study of CE (Computer Engineering). 11

This web application was built under Windows 7 operating system that include XML, HTML (XHTML), and Java script. 1.4 Objective and benefits of Research Growing good computer hardware devices or software makes the entire aspect of life demand a good management in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of work. One way is making its application website Prodi CE department of computer engineering and informatics. As for the purpose and benefits of this research are : The purpose of this thesis is: 1. To design a dynamic web applications that are used for spreading good information quickly and easily. 2. To show the use of AJAX in building a dynamic web and dealing with the language of the web programming and other applications. The benefits of this thesis are : 1. Provides convenience for the public to find out information about Prodi CE (Computer Engineering) Department of computer engineering and informatics. 2. To provide ease for alumni Prodi CE to find out about the existence of all of his friends during the studied first with using this website. 3. As well as help promote and introduce Prodi CE, so that parents are willing to study their children in State Polytechnic Medan. 12

13 1.5 Research Methodology As for the methodology of the research conducted was the author of : 1. Research Libraries Here the author uses the books that deal with the issue so that it can help solving problems. 2. The Research Field Research done directly to Prodi CE (Computer Engineering) Department of computer engineering and Informatics in order to get the data, where the author did data collection by way of asking directly to the Department of computer engineering and informatics related. 3. The Design Of The Website Discuss on the system which is designed and the use of Adobe Dreamweaver CS 5 as editor of the designer's website. 4. Editing Of The Website: a. Workmanship-HTML (XHTML), XML, and Java script b. Editing of graphic/image c. Work on Java script and MYSQL 5. Testing 1.6 Review Of The Literature For this final project, entitled "DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF WEBSITE PROGRAM STUDY COMPUTER ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT 13

This book gives an overview or guidance about how to write functional code and mastering design patterns a solid AJAX applications with high performance. 1.7 Systematics Preparation Generally this end task consists of 6 chapters and several appendices. As for each chapter is composed of sub - subchapters. As for the Systematics of this thesis is : CHAPTER 1 : INTRODUCTION In this chapter in a nutshell discuss the background, the outline of the issue, the issue, the purpose and benefits of the research, methodology search, and writing systems. CHAPTER 2 : BASIC THEORY In this chapter described a glimpse of Understanding systems, Data and information, information system, Internet, introduction to the history of the Internet, the introduction of AJAX (Asynchronous Java script And XML), HTML(XHTML), MySQL, and as well as Macromedia Adobe Dreamweaver CS 5. 14

15 CHAPTER 3 : DESIGN This chapter contains a discussion of the system is designed, and the use of Adobe Dreamweaver CS 5 as editor of the design of the website. CHAPTER 4 : IMPLEMENTATION AND ANALYSIS This chapter contains the notion of system implementation, the purpose of the implementation of the System Specifications, and installation of Apache, and MySQL. CHAPTER 5 : CONCLUSION In this chapter outlined the conclusions and suggestions of the research result sustained by the author. 15
