4 TEACHERS COLLEGE Master s Degree Programs Science Degree Programs WGU Indiana offers four science master s degree programs in chemistry, physics, biological science, and geosciences. These programs are designed to provide you with the content knowledge and teaching skills to become a highly qualified science teacher at the middle school or high school level. All programs include a home science lab for laboratory assignments. Home Science Labs Even though you re at a distance, hands-on lab work is a requirement of every WGU Indiana science degree program. Upon enrollment, you will be sent a home science lab specific to your chosen area of study. This self-contained laboratory kit includes the lab manual, science equipment, specimens, supplies, and chemicals necessary to complete college lab experiments at home. The experiments reinforce science content and teach you laboratory techniques. All four science master s degree programs include completion of a capstone project. 6 TEACHERS COLLEGE Master of Arts English Language Learning / English as a Second Language (ELL/ESL) (PK-12) Earn your master s degree and qualify for a high-demand English Language Learning (ELL) or English as a Second Language (ESL) teaching endorsement. The M.A. in English Language Learning prepares PK-12 educators to teach effectively in ELL or ESL settings and to provide curricular leadership to their schools and school systems. In many states (but not all), the degree leads to an endorsement in ELL or ESL, which are in high demand. Community college teachers who work in ELL or ESL settings will also benefit tremendously from this program. NOTE: This program is not for those interested in learning to speak or write the English language. Applicants must also show evidence of at least one year of college-level study of a foreign language. The program consists of three domains of study and completion of a capstone project. 7 Graduate EDUCATION DEGREE PROGRAMS Tuition That s Affordable As of April 1, Please check website for the most current tuition/fee information. WGU Indiana reserves the right to change any of its tuition and fees. Students will be notified in advance of the new tuition rates. All teacher licensure programs: $2,890 per six month term* Library Fee: $45 per 6-month term* Application fee: $65 (one-time) Science Lab Fee: $350 (one-time) *A term is six months in length and can begin on the first of any month. You pay for the time, not the credits. Tuition is charged at a flat rate every six months and covers all coursework attempted in that time. A full-time load for these programs is at least 12 competency units (credit equivalents) per term for a bachelor s degree program and at least 8 CUs per term for a master s degree program. Individual progress may vary. Federal financial aid, including Pell Grants and scholarships, is available for eligible individuals. VA benefits and tuition assistance are also available. Approved to Offer Indiana State Financial Aid and Grants WGU Indiana is an approved education provider for Indiana state grants and scholarships offered through the State Student Assistance Commission of Indiana (SSACI). The state of Indiana offers a variety of grants and scholarships. Completion of the FAFSA is required during the application. Nationally, Regionally, and NCATE Accredited As a partner of Western Governors University, WGU Indiana s programs are nationally accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC) and regionally accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. The WGU Teachers College is also the first exclusively online teacher education institution to receive accreditation from the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). Note: Most WGU Indiana programs are approved for Tuition Assistance for active-duty servicepersons. Typically, within a week of applying, WGU Indiana will contact you regarding the status of your application and answer questions. If you are accepted, you will schedule an Intake Interview with your Enrollment Counselor to review your degree program as well as address your questions or concerns prior to finalizing enrollment.
