The Butterfly Release is an uplifting remembrance of our children. It is a time for families to reflect and honour their baby in the company of friends and family. This is Canada s largest Pregnancy and Infant Loss gathering. It is uniquely positioned to support the invisible mourners of infant loss; the children and the grandparents. This event creates hope and enlightenment and despite the tragedy that has unfolded families learn not only to survive but to thrive. Nearly 600 people attend the event which includes the release of more than 250 live butterflies. We hope you will consider playing a role in the 20 th Anniversary of this event. This past year the prevalence, along with the emotional and mental effects of pregnancy loss and infant death came out of the shadows with the passing of Bill 141: Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness, Research and Care Act This is the first bill ever passed in North America making it the law to support families affected by loss. Your support at this time is needed more than ever. With the increased awareness and media attention Bill 141 has generated, PAIL Network has witnessed a 400% increase in demand for our services. PAIL Network Programs Accessible free services to parents who have experienced the loss of a pregnancy or an infant. Circles of Supports: Free bereavement support offered in 25 communities across Ontario providing families with an opportunity to talk openly in a safe environment about their experience while gathering new coping techniques. Resources: Frequently reviewed literature is provided in health care settings to help both caregivers and parents gather the tools and information needed after experiencing a loss.

2 Commemorative Events: Annual events provide an opportunity for families to honour their baby and receive support and acknowledgement within their community. Education: Provided to health care professionals and community groups to better understand how to care and support families through the loss of a pregnancy or infant. PAIL Network services have been proven to reduce the negative emotional effects of traumatic grief by reducing isolation and normalizing the grieving process.
