3 1. PREAMBLE The AMT s mission is to improve public transit services in order to increase commuting efficiency in the greater Montreal area. One of the ways the AMT has decided to go about it is to promote cycling as an alternative mode of transport for commuting. It has accordingly developed adaptations for its network and special accesses for boarding commuter trains to increase convenience for this sector of its clientele. 2. FIELD OF APPLICATION AND PURPOSE OF THE DIRECTIVE The purpose of this directive is to set out the rules governing the use and transportation of bicycles everywhere in its facilities (as defined below). 3. DEFINITIONS For purposes of this directive, the term below is defined: «Facilities» : A terminal, station, platform, commuter train or park-and-ride lot operated by or belonging to the AMT network. 4. CONDITIONS FOR USING BICYCLES AND BRINGING THEM INTO AMT FACILITIES The AMT authorizes any of its customers who cycle to use its network s facilities in accordance with the terms and conditions stated herein, provided they comply with specific rules governing bicycle access to commuter trains CONDITIONS FOR USING BICYCLES IN AMT FACILITIES Throughout its network's facilities, the AMT authorizes people to use bicycles, under the following conditions: 1

4 Be careful, observe posted signage and maintain public order Anyone transporting a bicycle in AMT facilities must exercise care, follow posted signs, maintain public order and comply with any directive expressed by any of the AMT s security agents, employees, representatives, contractors or inspectors Secure your bicycle to the designated bicycle rack Anyone wishing to leave a bicycle in AMT facilities must be sure that it is properly secured on a rack specifically designated for that purpose Remove your bicycle after a maximum of 48 hours Anyone leaving a bicycle on AMT property must be sure to remove it within a maximum of fortyeight (48) consecutive hours. Exception: Bicycles may not be left on a commuter train. Anyone travelling with a bicycle on board must leave the train with it Walk your bicycle Anyone bringing a bicycle onto AMT property must walk it, not ride it CONDITIONS FOR BICYCLE ACCESS TO THE COMMUTER TRAIN NETWORK It is permitted to transport bicycles on all commuter train lines, but under the following conditions: Observe authorized days and times Failing an exception duly posted on the schedule, bicycle transport is authorized at the following times: From Mondays to Fridays, outside rush hours if travelling in the off-peak direction At any time on weekends and statutory holidays Please consult each individual train line schedule to find out which trains are authorized to transport bicycles. The schedule is subject to change Observe the minimum age requirement for travelling alone with a bicycle Anyone who is at least fourteen (14) years old is permitted to transport a bicycle on commuter trains. Anyone who is less than fourteen (14) years old is permitted to transport a bicycle on commuter trains, provided he or she is accompanied by someone who is at least 14. 2

Secure your bicycle to the designated bicycle rack Anyone wishing to leave a bicycle in AMT facilities must be sure that it is properly secured on a rack specifically designated for that purpose. 4.1.

5 Get on and off at designated stations Anyone carrying a valid commuter transit pass has access to the platform of a station for the purpose of getting on or off a train with a bicycle, except in stations where duly posted signs specifically dictate otherwise. As of the time this directive comes into effect, bicycles will not be permitted in the Candiac station of the Candiac line or in the Hudson and Île-Perrot stations of the Vaudreuil-Hudson line. This list is subject to change Head directly to the boarding area designated by platform signs Anyone wishing to board a commuter train with a bicycle at any of the stations so designated must position him - or herself at the spot duly designated for that purpose by platform signage CONDITIONS FOR BICYCLE ACCESS TO COMMUTER TRAINS Anyone aboard or attempting to get on board a commuter train with a bicycle must meet the following conditions: Do not exceed the number of bicycles authorized per train The AMT authorizes a maximum of twelve (12) bicycles on board each train. It is therefore forbidden for anyone to get on a train if it already contains the maximum number of bicycles authorized. If the maximum number of bicycles per train has been reached, the person must take the next train identified on the schedule as accepting bicycles Secure your bicycle to the rack Anyone getting on a train with a bicycle must secure it to the rack designated for that purpose and remain nearby at all times. If all of the bicycle racks are used up when the person enters the train, he or she must get off immediately and wait on the platform for the next train identified on the schedule as accepting bicycles. 3

6 Do not move between cars or floors of cars Anyone boarding a train with a bicycle is permitted to move about with it, but only for the purpose of securing the bicycle to the rack designated for that purpose or to head for the exit when disembarking. It is therefore forbidden for anyone to walk a bicycle into another car, move to the second floor of a double-decker car, or head down to the lowest level of a multi-level car BICYCLE ACCESS CONDITIONS SPECIFIC TO CENTRAL STATION Central Station is one of the stations on the commuter train network where the AMT authorizes the transport of bicycles, but under the following additional conditions: Enter and exit by the parking entrance opening onto De la Gauchetière street west Anyone entering Central Station with a bicycle in order to board a commuter train, or leaving the station after disembarking from a train, is to use the door to the covered parking area (taxi zone) leading to De la Gauchetière west street, across from Place Bonaventure Keep your bicycle in your possession Anyone with a bicycle on Hall or on a boarding platform must always keep the bicycle in his or her possession Stay in the concourse Anyone transiting through Central Station with a bicycle is permitted in the Hall only, not in the food court (Les Halles de la Gare) Use only authorized accesses to the platforms Anyone boarding a train in Central Station with a bicycle or disembarking at that station with a bicycle may use only the accesses authorized and identified to that end. To access platforms 9 and 10 or 11 and 12, anyone travelling with a bicycle must use the wheelchair-access elevator or the central stairway leading to the Hall. To access platforms 20, 21 or 22, anyone travelling with a bicycle must use the central stairway leading to the Hall. 4

It is therefore forbidden for anyone to walk a bicycle into another car, move to the second floor of a double-decker car, or head down to the lowest level of a multi-level car. 4.

7 5. SANCTIONS AND CHANGES 5.1. Sanctions Anyone contravening the terms and conditions in effect for the use and transport of bicycles is liable to a fine under the Act respecting the Agence métropolitaine de transport and its regulations Changes The days and times on which bicycle transport is permitted, the list of stations authorizing commuter train boarding and disembarking with a bicycle, and the maximum number of bicycles permitted aboard a train stipulated herein are subject to change. The AMT will give a twenty-day (20-day) advance notice of any modification being made to this directive concerning the use and transport of bicycles in AMT facilities and on board commuter trains. However, it should be noted that any amendment made for reasons of security may be made without advance notice. 6. EXCEPTIONS This directive does not apply to exceptional situations for which specific conditions may be stipulated by the AMT. 7. RESPONSIBILITY The AMT designates the Vice-Présidence - Exploitation as the unit responsible for the application of this directive. 8. EFFECTIVE DATE This directive comes into effect as of the moment it is passed by the AMT s Comité de Direction. 5
