As Chairperson of this years convention, along with my assistant Mike McGroarty Jr., we extend our warmest greetings, and hope you will find this year s I-Day to follow in the tradition of excellence. I-Day has a long history of being the premier networking and educational event for the insurance industry in Western Pennsylvania and we hope you will enjoy all of the scheduled activities. We will commence with a continental breakfast and then invite you To participate in a selection of continuing education courses, each of which provides two CE Credits. You may also visit our exhibitors who will be on hand to discuss their valued services. Our luncheon speaker will be Ivy Eros, The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. Ivy has fought hunger over the years in a variety of roles including food solicitation, agency monitoring, volunteer coordination and her current position of education. Ivy for the past 23 years at The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank believes in the mission and knows that everyone can make a difference in the life of a hungry neighbor. The Insurance Club of Pittsburgh, along with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food bank will provide a venue to donate much needed items for our hungry neighbor s. 6 Francis H. Morrow III, CPCU Frank Morrow is an Executive Field Underwriter with Chubb & Son. In this role, he is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of Clean Tech underwriting strategies. Frank joined Chubb in 2002 and has held various underwriting, management and leadership roles. Before assuming his present position, he had been a production underwriter and supervisor for 10 years with Chubb s Philadelphia branch responsible for all facets of his book of business and developing his staff. Over the last eighteen months, in addition to his regular duties, he has also assisted on a corporate wide project team to develop the Clean Tech initiative within Chubb. Prior to Chubb, he spent 15 years working at Industrial Risk Insurers in numerous underwriting and management roles within the Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Washington DC markets. He began his career as an underwriter and loss control representative working in the HPR commercial property industry. Frank is experienced in handling all aspects of underwriting multiple lines of insurance including property, general liability, auto, worker s compensation, umbrella, commercial E&O and international. He has had the opportunity to work with clients in the defense, retail, higher education, food, glass, primary metals and broadcaster industries. He earned a MBA in Finance from LaSalle University in 1994 and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Delaware in He received his Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriting (CPCU) designation in He can be reached at fmorrow@chubb.com or in his Philadelphia office. Samuel Iannucci, CFPA, ARM, LEED Green Associate Mr. Iannucci began his loss control career at Chubb in He spent the beginning of his career with a focus on sprinkler system design, and has since pursued property and fire protection loss control as a specialty since His current responsibilities include servicing large property accounts; including the evaluation of fire protection, water supplies, and fire hazards. Mr. Iannucci specializes in property fire protection for educational and commercial facilities. Experience spans many industries; including wood working, metal working, light & heavy manufacturing, and higher education. The past several years a greater influence has been on Green and Clean technologies. There have been many success stories surrounding his experience with green/clean technologies and reducing the risk management exposure. Prior to working with Chubb, Mr. Iannucci worked with PA Lumbermen s Insurance Company targeting woodworking and construction occupancies. Mr. Iannucci has been a volunteer firefighter for 16 years and serves as his departments Deputy Fire Chief. 7 Clara Pincus Clara Pincus is AIG s Regional Casualty Executive and has responsibility for managing the Commercial Casualty underwriting operations for the entire Mid-Atlantic region. Clara has 30+ years of insurance industry experience - all of it with AIG in Casualty underwriting and management. She began her career in the Excess department before moving to Primary Casualty in the Commercial Risk division. Clara holds the CPCU designation. Bryan Pedro Bryan Pedro is manager of the AIG Excess Complex Claims Department for over eight years. His area of responsibility consists of three complex units (North, South and West) a National Accounts unit and the Crisis Response/Audit unit. The Complex Claims Department handles the largest exposure and most complex claims involving General Liability, Product Liability, Auto Liability and other liability claims arising anywhere in the world. Bryan has been in the insurance industry since He joined AIG in 1998 as a Complex Claims director. Prior to joining AIG, Bryan held numerous claim home office and field office positions with Nationwide Insurance and Aetna Casualty & Surety Company. Bryan brings over 20 years of experience to the P&C industry. He graduated from Salve Regina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. 8 Louis C. Long LOUIS C. LONG is a partner of Pietragallo Gordon Alfano Bosick & Raspanti, LLP, where he is a member of the Litigation and Transportation Practice Groups, as well as the firm s Construction Practice Consortium. Upon joining the firm in October of 2005, Mr. Long added depth and experience to Pietragallo s Insurance Coverage practice. He is routinely engaged to provide insurance coverage analysis and claims handling guidance. Mr. Long has assisted in drafting commercial general liability and automobile liability policy language. He has authored countless legal opinions construing and applying such policies, as well as directors and officers insurance, errors and omissions insurance and uninsured and underinsured motorists coverages. His insurance coverage litigation includes prosecution and defense of declaratory judgment actions, garnishment actions, breach of contract claims and bad faith. Matters representative of Mr. Long s insurance coverage practice include: Successfully representing two excess, general liability insurers in protracted multi-party declaratory judgment actions involving issues of coverage for multi-million-dollar antitrust judgments. Case held that commercial general liability insurance did not afford coverage for the loss. & Successfully representing insurer in environmental coverage litigation in which insurer issued more than 10 excess umbrella policies to owner of Superfund site. Obtained summary judgment in insurer s favor, eliminating all but one policy from case and negotiating settlement of claims arising under remaining policy for fraction of total potential exposure. Mr. Long is the secretary of the Pennsylvania Defense Institute and serves as Co-Chair of its Amicus Committee. In addition, as a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association, Mr. Long has served on the Committee on Opportunities for Minorities in the Legal Profession and the Appellate Practice Committee. He currently serves as a member of Fee Dispute Arbitration panels for the organization. He also served as a member of the board of directors of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum Foundation, Inc., and spent several terms as the Vice-President of that non-profit charitable foundation. He also is a past president of The Modified Tour, Inc., a non-profit organization involved in local auto racing. Mr. Long is an approved mediator for the West Virginia State Bar and an approved ADR Neutral for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. He has been called upon to mediate insurance coverage disputes pending before that court. In addition, LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell recognizes Mr. Long as an AV Preeminent rated attorney, the highest such rating available to any individual lawyer in both legal ability and ethical standards.
