1 AARON DE LA CRUZ San Francisco-based artist Aaron De La Cruz is known for his large scale murals, paintings, and installations that have been exhibited in Australia, Berlin, Hong Kong, Hawaii, Los Angeles, New York, Art Basel Miami, as well as collaborations with Diesel/55DSL (Italy), Birkenstock (Germany), and Casio G-Shock (Taiwan). Inspired by graphic design and architecture, with roots in graffiti and skate culture, his abstract painting style is recognized internationally.

3 THE STORY PIRATES DECEMBER 12-13,19-20 STORY PIRATES IS a national troupe of actors, comedians, musicians and teaching artists whose mission is to celebrate the words and ideas of young people. Founded in 2003 and dually based in New York and Los Angeles, Story Pirates is best known for its acclaimed creative writing programs, which have been profiled in Education Week, on NBC Nightly News, and on The Today Show. Story Pirates regularly collaborates with top comedians and actors, such as Jon Stewart, Conan O Brien, Stephen Colbert, John Oliver, Kristen Schaal, Sasheer Zamata, Nick Kroll, Aubrey Plaza, Josh Gad and Ana Gasteyer. Cast members have performed in lead roles in major Broadway productions, often appear on television and film, publish books for young readers, and are on the writing staffs of television shows such as Late Night with Seth Meyers, Workaholics, Saturday Night Live and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. When President Barack Obama was in third and fourth grade, he lived in Indonesia. His third-grade teacher remembers giving a homework assignment that asked students what they wanted to be when they grew up. It was then that Barack made it a goal to become the President of the United States of America. ALBERT EINSTEIN Though he was always eager to learn, famed physicist Albert Einstein was not an A+ student during elementary school and often got in trouble with his teachers for being disobedient. A shy boy, Albert rarely spoke during class and was often day dreaming. Outside of school, Albert enjoyed playing the violin and began making his own science projects for fun. Over time, Albert grew more excited about his classes, as teachers and friends started to recognize his talent in science.

9 BEYONCÉ Born in Houston Texas, pop-icon Beyoncé Knowles first became interested in performing as a kindergartner, when she started taking dance classes at school. Beyoncé would take any chance she got to sing, whether at school talent shows, her church choir, or sitting at the dinner table with her family. By the time she was eight, Beyoncé and her friends started an all-girls music group that competed on TV shows. JEREMY LIN When NBA star Jeremy Lin was a kid playing AAU basketball, he was one of the shortest players on his team and didn t grow to his full height until he graduated high school. Though Jeremy loved spending his time playing basketball with his friends and brothers, his parents made sure that he took school just as seriously and would only allow him to play if he maintained good grades.

When Brandon and his three younger sisters were just kids, his parents would always get season tickets. Though the family lived an hour outside of San Francisco, they would regularly drive in to see their favorite team play. Brandon started playing baseball when he was five, and since then, has become one of the Giants most important players. MARIE CURIE Physicist and chemist Marie Curie (third from left) grew up in Poland and was the youngest of five kids. Both of her parents were teachers who often set up science experiments in the house for Marie and her siblings. At ten, she enrolled in a boarding school and began to develop her passion for science, despite the fact that she was one of the youngest students in her classes.
