Pledge of Allegiance Councilmember Faatz led the pledge of allegiance. Roll Call Present: Boigon, Brown, Faatz, Johnson, Lehmann, López, Madison, Montero, President Pro Tem Garcia (9) Late: Nevitt (1) Absent: Hancock, Linkhart, President Robb (3) (Roll Call Serial #413) Minutes- The minutes of meeting date, Monday, December 14, 2009, were distributed to Council. There being no corrections from members of Council, Council President Pro Tem Garcia ordered the minutes approved. Presentations None Communications None Proclamations (Series of 2009) Proc. 54, Series of 2009, A proclamation honoring the life of Patricia Ann Richards and recognizing her contributions to Denver was read in its entirety by Councilmember Faatz. A motion offered by Councilmember Faatz, duly seconded by Councilmember Brown, that Proc. 54, Series of 2009, be adopted carried by the following vote: (Roll Call Serial #414) Proc. 55, Series of 2009, A proclamation celebrating the 30 th anniversary of Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver providing affordable homes and services to people in need was read in its entirety by Councilmember Johnson. A motion offered by Councilmember Johnson, duly seconded by Councilmember López, that Proc. 55, Series of 2009, be adopted carried by the following vote: (Roll Call Serial #415) Resolutions (Series of 2009) The Council Secretary read the following resolutions by titles. The Council President Pro Tem referred the resolutions to the committees shown in parentheses after the resolution titles. Res. 156, Series of 2009, A resolution levying taxes for the year 2009 upon all taxable property within special districts within the City and County of Denver for purposes authorized by law for special districts. (FINANCE)
2 Res. 157, Series of 2009, A resolution levying upon all taxable property within the City and County of Denver taxes for the year 2009 for purposes authorized by law for School District No. 1 in the City and County of Denver, State of Colorado. (FINANCE) Res. 158, Series of 2009, A resolution authorizing and approving the expenditure and payment from the appropriation account designated liability claims, the sum of Thirty-Eight Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($38,500.00) payable to Debbie Masters and Anderson, Hemmat & Levine, LLC, in the amount of Thirty-Two Thousand Dollars ($32,000.00) and payable to Stephen D. Foster, Esq., LLC, in the amount of Six Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($6,500.00), in full payment and satisfaction of all claims in Case No. 09CV5698 in the District Court for the City and County of Denver. (PARKS & RECREATION) Res. 159, Series of 2009, A resolution authorizing and approving the expenditure and payment from the appropriation account designated liability claims, the sum of Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15,00.00), payable to Sophia Demina and John Astuno, Jr., in full payment and satisfaction of the claims regarding Civil Action No. 09-CV (SAFETY) Res. 160, Series of 2009, A resolution authorizing and approving the expenditure and payment from the appropriation account designated liability claims, the sum of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) payable to Michelle Angel and Irwin & Boesen, P.C., in full payment and satisfaction of all claims in Claim No (SAFETY) Bills for Introduction - (Series of 2009) The Council Secretary read the following bills by titles.
