1 SAN JACINTO COLLEGE JOB ESCRIPTION TITLE: EPARTMENT: Vice Chancellor, Marketing, PR, and Government Affairs College Marketing, PR, and Government Affairs Office SECURITY SENSITIVE: Yes FLSA STATUS 1 : Exempt SALARY GRAE: 45 FUNCTION: Responsible for the strategic planning, visioning, developing, and implementation of the College marketing strategies. Marketing strategies include advertising (traditional and new media), e-marketing, communications, media relations, crisis communications, publications, website creation and content management, social media, government and public relations activities, both internal and external. Create presentation materials speeches, written and oral testimony for the Chancellor and maintain database for VIP mailing lists. Work closely with the San Jacinto College Foundation and College administrators in event planning and management. Manage and respond to Public Information requests on behalf of San Jacinto College. irect the efforts of the marketing department staff within the above functions. The Vice Chancellor, Marketing, PR, and Government Relations will collaborate closely with members of the College community to accomplish the strategic goals of the College as they pertain to the functions of the marketing team. 2 2. Manage media and public relations at the local, W 5 regional, and national level. evelop strategies to maintain relationship and pitching using new media methods. 3. Manage college publications for producing and W 10 maintaining all marketing collateral, digital publications, and printed publications. evelop e-publications in line with market trends and best practices. 4. evelop and maintain crisis communications plan and M 5 NIMS certification. 5. Manage marketing budget M 5 6. Manage college internal and external communications to include social media efforts, website maintenance and content management, and speech and presentation support to the Chancellor s office. 7. evelop government relations strategy for local, state, and federal relations and develop relationships with elected officials as well as legislative staff and community members. evelop communication plans regarding bond referendum and board of trustee elections. Prepare written and oral testimony on behalf of San Jacinto College or Texas Association of Community Colleges. 8. evelop and manage college traditional and new media, advertising/marketing. 9. Collaborate with, Foundation, college community and chancellor office on event planning and management functions. 10. Serve as the College Public Information Officer and manage Public Information Requests and maintain college policy and guidelines for Public Information. 3 4. Attend legislative hearings as required when the Texas Legislature is in session and watch as bills progress and address bills with elected officials that will impact San Jacinto College. REQUIRE/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong strategic leadership skills In-depth understanding of marketing research, analysis, and integrated marketing strategy emonstrated success in personnel management emonstrated ability to build relationships for a variety of audiences (internal, community, media, legislative) Strong writing skills for a variety of audiences (media, social media, website, internal, speech) Organizational management Strong knowledge of public relations events Knowledge of publications and the print process Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external customers demonstrated sensitivity to issues of diversity and ability to function within a team oriented environment Bi-lingual skills a plus Education and Experience: Required Education: Bachelor s degree in marketing, public relations, communications, or related field Preferred Education: Master s degree in marketing, public relations, communications or related field Required Experience: Five (5) years marketing/public relations experience in a senior/executive capacity required Five (5) years experience in a supervisory role Executive level experience in developing marketing campaigns and strategies Preferred Experience: Sports marketing management Crisis communication planning Knowledge of Government Relations Understanding of the Public Information Act
