The current MHA curriculum consists of 51 required credits with no flexibility in course selection and no elective courses. As suidents have graduated from the program and entered professional careers in an array of private and public institutions, we feel the need to offer more flexibility in progi"am requirements to better allow students to tailor their course work to their career goals. Therefore, we propose to change the MHA curriculum by increasing flexibility in selection of courses, hi addition, at 51 required credits, the MHA is considerably longer than all other master programs at SPH which range horn 42 to 46 credits. We therefore propose to reduce the number of required credits to 46 to make the MHA credit requirements closer to that of other SPH master programs. Luisa From: Ritu Agarwal Sent: Monday, March 23, :23 AM To: Luisa Franzini Subject: Re: FW: elective courses in the Business School Dear Luisa, I am happy to support the inclusion of the BUDT courses listed below as part of the MHA curriculum. As space permits, we would be glad to have MHA students register for them. Best regards, Ritu On Mon, Mar 23, 2015 at 11:19 AM, Luisa Franzini wrote: Ritu, Thank you for talking with me today on the phone. As I mentioned we need an (which can be in reply to this ), stating your support for listing the electives below as part of the MHA program. Thank you Luisa From: Luisa Franzini Sent: Tuesday, December 09, :35 PM To: 'Ritu Agarwal' Cc: Alexander Triantis Subject: RE: FW: elective courses in the Business School Ritu, We propose to add a couple of electives from the business school to the MHA program. The description of the new program and the description of the impact it would have on other units are below. Of course students taking electives in 1

11 the business school will pay tuition to the business school (as they do now). Please let me know if it is ok to move ahead for now. We still hope to work with you to deepen the collaboration on the MH program. Thanks Luisa Other Departments Affected The MHA program is adding elective courses from the UMD Business School and the UMD School of Public Policy. The anticipated number of MHA students taking such elective courses is expected to be small so that the expected number of additional MHA students taking a specific course in a specific semester is 0-3.
