3 opportunities Our We have trainee consultant opportunities in our London, Glasgow, Birmingham and Edinburgh offices, and in different parts of the firm - actuarial & benefits, investment and risk modelling. You can look forward to a great start to your career, whichever part of the business you join. To apply, you ll need to have, or be on course to achieve, a minimum 2.1 in your honours degree. We welcome applications from post graduate students too. You ll also have A Level or Higher Maths at Grade A, and a GCSE or Higher Grade in English at Grade C or above, or equivalent. As well as needing strong mathematical skills, we re also looking for people who are great communicators, innovative thinkers, creative solution finders and thrive on team working. 4 Trainee Actuarial and Benefits Consultant In my short time at Hymans Robertson I have learnt so much and have enjoyed the opportunity to apply my technical knowledge to real-life problems faced by clients. Harry Allen, Trainee Consultant, Birmingham Our actuarial and benefits practice is the largest part of our business with around 250 staff, and offers actuarial and benefits advice to a wide range of Trustee, Corporate and Public sector pensions clients. In this role, our trainees typically work within client teams to support all areas of the advice given by our actuarial and benefits consultants. You will build up effective client relationships and get involved in a wide range of projects, for example: Designing clients benefits and reward packages Improving security and quality of life for retirees Advising on remuneration and wealth creation strategies Developing a communication strategy supporting a change project Assisting in the development of modelling systems that help provide client solutions Workplace savings Hymans Robertson

5 Trainee Investment Consultant Investment advice is a key component of the range of consulting services that we offer our clients. Our investment practice is a market leader in the UK and we advise many household names. The practice comprises around 30 consultants supported by 40 investment and research analysts and spans three offices; Glasgow, Edinburgh and London. Some of the areas that a trainee investment consultant may cover include: Working closely with scheme actuaries to help clients agree long-term objectives and targets, and devise plans for meeting those targets Helping clients ascertain the appropriate level of investment risk to be taken in their scheme, to help address scheme deficits Advising clients on the appropriate structure for their investment portfolio, considering the full range of asset classes and the impact of financial markets and the economy Working with DC clients to ascertain the appropriate investment options for scheme members Researching investment managers/approaches/products to ensure we can advise on those that best fit our clients needs Our trainee consultants typically support all areas of the advice given by our investment consultants and are often the day to day contact point for our clients. In addition, there are often opportunities to get involved in a range of research projects. The variety of work that I encounter keeps things interesting as well as challenging at times; however it helps to be surrounded by such a fantastic team with a real emphasis on learning, support and progression. 6 Trainee Risk Modelling Consultant The risk modelling and consulting practice is our newest practice bringing together key risk modelling skills across the business and driving our diversification into new areas. The practice comprises of around 85 employees and is pivotal in providing innovative and market leading risk management solutions to our clients as well as helping provide analytics and insights for the rest of the business. As a trainee risk modelling consultant you may be involved in a range of work including: Identifying and helping develop models that either provide clients with solutions or support our internal systems that are used across the firm; Helping clients understand the risks they face, for example longevity and financial risks, and researching and developing strategies to manage this; Pro-actively consulting with key stakeholders in the practice and wider business to ensure client needs are met; and Working closely with people from many different disciplines and areas of expertise. Our trainee consultants will get the opportunity to work on a real variety of projects and apply traditional actuarial techniques to lots of different business situations, working alongside leading life insurers, banks and other organisations.
