2 March 22, 2018 Dear Nicasio Families, What a wet week! While rain certainly creates some challenges during the school day, your children have shown patience and flexibility. Thank you for driving with extra care to and from school and in our parking lot. Below are photos of our rotating display in the main office. This month we are featuring beautiful Chinese New Year dragons and 100 th Day of School wreaths created by our K/1/2 students. Next week we welcome Superstar Health to campus to teach Puberty/Sex Ed to our 5 th /6 th graders and our 7 th /8 th graders. All materials are in the main office and are available to preview. Please contact Mikki or myself with any questions. Mark your calendars! On Thursday, April 5 th we will have a Nicasio Parent Club meeting prior to Open House. Stay tuned for more details. Please plan to attend and bring your ideas for how we can build our Parent Club and provide fun, community-building events for our kids throughout the school year. 4 Middle School **80 s Theme** SPRING DANCE Friday, March 23 rd, 2018 the SGV Community GYM. $10 for students & $15 for their guests [+1]. Tickets sold at door. A dance for Middle School students from Nicasio and San Geronimo Valley Nobody turned away for lack of funds. All proceeds will go toward supporting a local cause or charity (TBD). Attention Students & Parents Please do not arrive before 7:00pm and do not pick up later than 9:30pm. Students MUST have a signed permission slip for entry. We need students and parents to bake treats and donate drinks! Bring food and drinks immediately to LOFT upon arrival. No nuts of any kind in food. Rules and Permission Slip must be signed for entry. 5 San Geronimo Valley Community Center & Lagunitas Middle School Spring Dance Rules and Permission Slip 80 s Theme Spring Dance The San Geronimo Valley Community Center and the Lagunitas School District are hosting a Middle School dance with a DJ and games in the GYM and LOFT! Staff and volunteers from the Community Center will chaperone this dance. Date: Friday, March 23rd, 2018 Place: San Geronimo Valley Community Gym Time: 7:30 9:30 PM (no early departure without parent pick-up) Cost: $10 at the door, $15for guests (Price includes 3 drink and treat tickets). Nobody turned away for lack of funds. Invited: Students from Nicasio and San Geronimo Valley. Students are granted a (+1) guest. All students and parents must read and sign the Dance Rules and Permission slip. Bring signed form to school or to the door the night of the dance. Dance Rules Students may NOT arrive early and MUST be picked up no later than 9:30 PM. Students may not leave dance early unless picked up by parent. Students must stay in the gym building. Only middle school appropriate dancing will be allowed nothing inappropriate for a middle school dance or that violates the space of other dance participants. Parents will be called to pick up their student if they use inappropriate behavior or disrespect the dance participants, chaperones, or damage property. All food and drink must be kept in the food room (the LOFT upstairs). Want to help? We need treats and liquid refreshments the day or evening of the dance. We also need help decorating the gym on Friday. Please contact Will Hubert at whubert@sgvcc.org if you are able to help with refreshments or decorations. Please sign below and bring this permission slip to the dance with $10, or turn signed form in to school before dance. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. We blend the experience of tabletop role- playing games, physical athletic activity, and hands -on, skills -based learning projects in an interconnected, immersive week of play and learning. Each camp session runs Monday through Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm Program Dates: July 9th-13th, July 16th-20th, July 23rd-27th, July 30th-August 3rd Tuition for camp is $475/week. This 2-day, 1-night backpacking trip welcomes middle school students from San Geronimo Valley, Nicasio, Point Reyes Station/Inverness, Tomales, and Bolinas/Stinson Beach. There is space for 2-3 applicants from each region. NO EXPERIENCE necessary. 13 5555 Nicasio Valley Road, Nicasio, CA / / Application Period and Enrollment Capacity for Interdistrict Transfer Requests into Nicasio School District for From February 1, 2018, to April 16, 2018, requests from non-resident students for interdistrict transfer (IDT) for the school year may be submitted to Nicasio School District. Requests will be processed in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations (BP/AR 5117) and will be considered by the Board of Trustees at the regular meeting held in May IDT requests from non-resident students received after April 17, 2018, to June 1, 2018, will be processed and considered at a board meeting in June Classroom and program capacity limits are specified in AR 5117.

14 5555 Nicasio Valley Road, Nicasio, CA / / February 14, 2018 Dear 6 th Grade Parents, California State Law requires all 7 th grade students to be fully immunized (please see attached Guide to Immunizations for School Entry ). Students will not be admitted to school for 7 th grade in the fall without proof of required immunizations or a medical exemption (Personal Belief exemptions are no longer allowed). Incoming 7th graders must meet all immunization requirements for 7-17 year-olds AND for 7 th grade entry. We need your child s current immunization record. If he/she has not received a TDAP or Varicella booster, or any of the other immunizations required for ages 7-17, please schedule an appointment immediately with your doctor. Please provide the school office with a copy of your child s updated immunization record by June 7, 2018.

15 Nicasio School Kindergarten Registration Fall 2018 The Nicasio School District is announcing kindergarten registration for the school year. Children eligible for registration must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2018 and reside within the boundaries of the Nicasio School District. Transitional kindergarten for the academic year is available to children residing within Nicasio School District boundaries who will turn 5 years of age on or between September 2, 2018 and December 2, Transitional kindergarten is a two-year program. Upon completion of the transitional kindergarten program, students are promoted to first grade.
