2 BA in Archaeology Licencjat (comparable to BA) 3 years (6 semesters) The study programme is designed to give students the best training in the archaeological profession as well as to provide knowledge and skills needed to ensure a good start in other fields. Our programme encompasses a wide variety of subjects, including general humanities courses as well as science - oriented courses, such as Techniques of Securing and Processing Data Statistics important assets on the modern job market. 3 BA in Finance and International Investment 3 years (6 semesters) Finance and International Investment Program aims at equipping students with professional knowledge about economics mechanisms and the instruments of international financial markets. Students learn how to manage modern financial engineering instruments of multinational corporations, have knowledge of the foreign exchange risk management techniques; optimization, corporate finance and international relations, especially these associated with investing in foreign assets. The program provides students with skills that enable them to prepare state-of-the-art analyses of the market value of enterprises and financial statements in accordance with accounting standards. Program graduates will possess highly marketable qualifications of modern analytical methods and tools underpinned by broad social knowledge, and will gain expertise in financial markets and institutions, international financial management, monetary policy, banking, insurance and accounting. These theoretical foundations, as well as the practical skills and analytical methods gained during their studies - like selected econometric and accounting tools - enable graduates to start their professional experience as economists, analysts, traders or accountants in financial institutions (banks, insurance companies, investment and pension funds), multi- national companies, government bodies, and research & educational institutions. Obtaining a bachelor's degree is also the ticket to take even the most demanding secondary studies at leading universities to obtain a master's degree, particularly in the fields of economics, finance, or in other social sciences. 5 BA in Philosophy of Being, Cognition and Value Licencjat (comparable to BA) 3 years (6 semesters) 180 Philosophy develops students intellectual abilities like no other academic discipline.it trains intelligence, the ability to understand new information, a capacity for understanding other people and cultures; Philosophy teaches how to properly interpret the behaviour of individuals and societies. It fosters imagination and, most of all, makes it easier to put together a coherent general world view as well as to determine the aims of human life. The program of studies includes the following obligatory subjects: Introduction to Philosophy, Ontology, Logic I [General Methodology and Introduction to Formal Logic, Ancient and Medieval Philosophy, Recent Polish Philosophy: the Lvov & Warsaw School, Epistemology, Logic II [Formal Logic] or Logical Semiotics, Modern Philosophy, Latin, Analytic Philosophy, Current Continental Philosophy, Ethics. 6 BA in U.S. Cultural Studies Licencjat (comparable to BA) 3 years (6 semesters) 180 The American Studies Center is a cross-disciplinary department of the. Its faculty research and teach various aspects of the United States culture, society, literature, art, film, media, history, economy, politics, law, ideas, etc. Faculty are both Polish and international scholars; permanent faculty includes three professors from the U.S. Classes are taught by the Center's faculty and guest faculty. Graduates of the American Studies Center have specialized knowledge about American society and culture, and the relations between the U.S. and the world, including Europe. The first-cycle studies program encompasses introductory lectures to the various disciplines that make up the curriculum, and a spectrum of electives; students are encouraged to enroll in elective classes which would inform their specific research projects. The program also includes an academic writing class ( composition) and other types of classes. The program runs for three years (six semesters). 7 Executive MBA MBA The Warsaw-Illinois Executive MBA (WIEMBA) is structured for busy professionals. The program is designed to complement and bolster one's professional routine. Learning is geared for the individual who has already had success in a career, yet is pushing to achieve more. Executive MBA students have more work experience, including in-depth managerial responsiblity than typical MBA students. Hence, the typical candidate is in his or her mid-thirties. In the case of the WIEMBA program students must have at least three years of work experience. An important aspect of an EMBA program is the ability to continue working full-time while pursuing an MBA degree. 8 International MBA Programme 2 years CMT s MBA programme is geared to the needs of today s and tomorrow s managers active in private or public organizations in Poland or abroad. The conceptual framework of the programme is based on the following premises: -guaranteeing a high academic standard of the educational programmes as set by leading Western management schools; openness of the Centre s faculty and students to a wide range of -management theories, philosophies and approaches as well as respect for different opinions and views; -international character in terms of curriculum content, the faculty involved in lecturing and the student body; -fostering the development of the managerial skills necessary for professional leadership in the public, non-profit and for-profit sectors. They should have an adequate command of the language (at least good for active use and very good for passive use) and a minimum of two years of practical professional experience. The distinctive feature of this programme is that it combines the overall fundamentals of economic theory with specialized knowledge in finance. The basic aim of this specialization is to provide students with theoretical knowledge from the field of quantitative finance combined with its practical applications in financial institutions, taking into account the latest trends in financial world. Quantitative Finance programme was designed after the detailed analysis of many other similar programmes: Quantitative Finance, Financial Econometrics, Financial Engineering and Financial Economics, which are taught at the best universities worldwide. 10 MA in American Studies 2 years 120 The American Studies Center is a cross-disciplinary department of the. The second cycle studies program encompasses introductory lectures to the various disciplines that make up the curriculum, and a wide spectrum of electives; students are encouraged to enroll in elective classes which would inform their specific research projects. The program includes also a writing proseminar, master seminars, and other types of classes. The program runs for two years (four terms). The extramural programs (the weekday one and the weekend one) are tuition based. Some students in the weekday program do not pay tuition; this exemption is based on entrance exam scores. However, only Polish nationals, other EU and EFTA nationals are eligible for this exemption. The curriculum is the same for the non-paying and the paying students. The paying students have the option of choosing between the weekday and the weekend programs. The non-paying students are admitted only into the weekday program. The weekday program offers classes from Monday through Thursday. In the weekend program, classes are taught every second weekend on Friday afternoons, Saturdays and Sundays. The number of class hours is at least 80 percent of the number of hours taught in the weekday program. 11 MA in Archaeology Magister (comparable to MA) 2 years (4 semesters) We offer in-depth training in excavation of human and animal remains as well as courses in osteology, bone taphonomy and archaeological chemistry. Our lecturers have substantial fieldwork experience in various areas of the Near East and specialized lectures and classes will be accompanied by the general curriculum in the archaeology of the Eastern Mediterranean and the Near East. Our graduates will become professional excavators of cemeteries and animal bone deposits, with training in osteology sufficient for fieldwork macroscopic analyses of human remains, inccuding sex and age assessment, basic paleopathology, stress markers, metric measurements and basic odontology. They will be able to places results of bioarchaeological research in wider historical and ecological context, as well as to design various kinds of more specific laboratory research. 12 MA in Chemistry Magister (comparable to MA) 2 years (4 semesters) 120 The second degree (MA) Chemistry Studies in at Warsaw University are run within six specialized areas: physicochemistry of new materials, theoretical chemistry, organic synthesis, chemical technology, bioanalytics and analytics of the environment and crystallography. Students can choose specialization after completing the first semester of studies. In order to do that they have to apply for an interview with a faculty member who is in charge of a given specialization and who will acquaint them with general options of doing their MA work. Each student will then be allocated to his/ her MA supervisor and together they will tailor the course of studies within the specialized area to meet students specific needs. Professors, assistant professors and those faculty members of the Chemistry Department who hold a Ph.D. degree and are approved by the Faculty Board, are eligible to supervise MA work provided they confirm their readiness to conduct classes and supervise written work in. During the second degree studies students have to gather at least 120 ECTS points and obtain credits for at least 1000 hours of classes and lectures. 13 MA in Environmental Management Magister (comparable to MA) 2 years (4 semesters) 120 The Interfaculty Master s Degree Programme Environmental Management is a joint initiative of three Warsaw University Faculties (Biology, Chemistry and Management) in which the prepared, interdisciplinary scientific courses are focused on a modern approach to sustainable exploitation and the protection of the natural environment. Students of our programme will gather complex theoretical and practical knowledge of legal, organizational and social considerations of environmental protection. 14 MA in International Business Program Magister (comparable to MA) 2 years (4 semesters) 120 The International Business Program is 2 year M.A. study program with specialization in international management. This program started in 2000 and is run in. The courses are provided by the staff of the Faculty of Management as well as staff from many foreign universities with which the Faculty cooperates. The vast cooperation between the Faculty of Management and more than 60 European universities within the Erasmus Program and many universities in the USA, allows students to study at foreign universities. The main aim of the program is to provide theoretical problems of international management in Poland, in the context of global trends. Foreign students who are at the University within the framework of an exchange scheme, may also participate in this course. Graduates of the International Business Program have complex knowledge in economics, finance, accounting, marketing, international law and the rules and strategies of international corporate functioning. Graduates are capable of performing tasks in international business. They may also find work in international political, economic and financial organizations, as well as in business organizations and public administration. They are able to analyze economic and political phenomena, as well as identify and analyze the relationships between them. Most successful graduates are prepared to undertake research challenges and continue their education at third-cycle studies (doctorate). 18 MA in Philosophy of Being, Cognition and Value Magister (comparable to MA) 2 years (4 semesters) Within second-cycle philosophy studies every student defines individual programme of studies by choosing among seminars, proseminars, monographic lectures and elective courses taught in the Institute of Philosophy. The elective courses offering includes: Philosophy of Culture, Philosophy of Science, Philosophy of Politics, Social Philosophy, History of Polish Philosophy, Aesthetics, Logical Semiotics and/or Advanced Logic. Studies end with preparing Master s Dissertation and passing the Master s Exam. Philosophy second-cycle programme graduate possesses deep and extensive knowledge and abilities in the range of subjects that comprise foundations of philosophical education. In accordance with personal interests s/he also knows particular philosophical trends, theories and issues as well as current debates concerning them. Philosophy graduate is able to analyse and interpret cultural phenomenons and write philosophical papers on her own. S/he is also capable of comprehending and translating foreign language papers, can think creatively and critically and has ability to formulate, explain and ground her own views. Philosophy graduate is well prepared for taking up PhD studies and for research and didactic work in the field of philosophy in higher education institutions. S/he can also teach Ethics and Introduction to Philosophy in school. Students who are not native speakers of will also gain very good command of that language which makes them much more valuable from the point of view of potential employers. It focuses on Poland and Europe. The subjects within the program are: Polish and General Contemporary History, History of Political Institutions, European Political Systems, Political Institutions of the EU, European Law, Transformation in Central and Eastern Europe, Theory of Politics, Methods in Political Research, Political Thought, Sociology and Psychology of Politics, Social Movements, International Relations, Foreign Policy of Poland, Political Decision-Making, Political Communication and Historical Politics in Europe. The main goal of the WISP program is to provide a high quality psychology education in both for foreign students and for Polish students fluent in who see their future careers on an international scene.
