4 Crack the Internet Code Key No 1: The Right Hungry Passionate Market Most people when consuming Internet Marketing material skim over the niche or market section thinking yep I know that bit when in reality from our experience many haven t got it right in their own businesses. We get the opportunity to work with many business owners and on many different Internet Businesses, and roughly 90% of the businesses that are struggling have this step wrong. The most common mistake we see is people choosing a niche they are interested in because they already have the product created or at least have the concept in mind. So how do we define our Niche Market. Here s the formula we follow: A niche is an easily targeted group who (have an action they desire) and (a problem or interest). A Niche needs to be an inch wide and a mile deep, not broad and general this is a key point which is often overlooked. So using these 2 points above, a good example niche may be: Australian Real Estate Agents who want to make more money from their agency. We can easily target this niche because they are a targeted group of people who have a common problem or interest in that they want to make more money from their real estate agency businesses. Another key component of the successful niche is whether or not this group actually have any money and are motivated to spend it. A good niche must have a problem statement associated with it. We want these people to be motivated to take action. The reason why we need a problem statement is so when we provide our product or service we can take them from pain to pleasure. There s more to it than that, but if you actively follow those rules you will be doing better than 90% of the people you are competing with online. As you get more advanced as a marketer over time you may want to change your focus from hungry niche markets to hungry mass markets. This goes into contradiction of basically everything marketers will tell you because most marketers will say you need to go down into a niche market only. Internet Marketers have generally been taught to avoid mass markets because it s too expensive, too hard to go after a mass market and there is

5 too much competition. Although ultimately the bottom line is the reason there is a lot of competition is because that s where the money is. This is understandable as most internet marketing gurus to date have been teaching people the old model which is to find a niche, find out what they want and then sell products to them based off what you ve found out about what they want and need. While this is a valid model, it s certainly not the best model to position yourself for lasting success in the NEW Economy and beyond. This is not necessarily new to us as we ve been doing it for years, but it is new to most marketers. What we re referring to is, if you look at the major online companies today, like Google, My Space, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, all of them utilise the 100% FREE model... it costs you nothing to use! Yet most marketers are totally ignoring this model and doing so for very logical, if incorrect reasons. The reason is, they think the free model is only available and will only work for these big companies with huge venture capital behind them. They don t think the average person like ourselves can use this free model to make money on the internet. The way we look at it is that we can debate this all day long but the facts are facts. The free model is here and it s here to stay. It s a great model and it is obviously the right model because the marketplace as a general rule doesn t want to be sold to and this is more the case now more than ever before. What we re talking about specifically here is using the free model to amass a large number of people into our marketing funnel or list so that we can create a relationship with them and then market other products and services over time to them also.

6 So you need to build a website (or a squeeze page section of your website where you drive traffic) where its primary focus is to provide something of value in exchange for your new prospects contact details. Your free offer is about quality not quantity. What you offer is only limited by your imagination, but good examples of what you could use include free reports, videos, audios, newsletters etc. The best free offers we have done have been created by getting into the mind of our prospects and finding out what do they really want and giving them that. Below is just part of an example of how we have done it highly effectively with hundreds of people every day requesting our free report and associated ecourse information. An important point with your opt in offer is to also communicate you are going to follow up with them again, otherwise what people see and hear in their mind is that I m just going to get this free product or service the one time. 7 Crack the Internet Code Key No 3: The Power of the Up Sell Effectively what you are doing with an upsell is giving away our first product for free as your free offer on the squeeze page, and then on the very next page you ask them to buy something from you. From our experience a free offer with an upsell behind it will result in more sales than a selling directly from the page if you have no relationship with the prospects. So between your Squeeze Page and your Download page offer them an upsell offer. We use the word Offer here because it needs to be compelling to get them across the line to change from just a free transaction prospect to a pulling out their credit card and becoming a paying customer.

8 We ve tested all sorts of different price points for the upsell offer like $27, $47, $67, $97 and $197. Here s what we ve found: lower price upsells like $27 or $47 work best for new prospects who have just come in from new advertisements and web traffic; higher price upsells like $97 and $197 can be far more profitable if you are sending the free offer to your existing list. Here s an example of a current upsell we are running that is aimed at capturing those buyers who are really after a deal. Notice in the example above that we use the Step 3 of 4 so that they know where they are in the process so they don t stop here without progressing on to the free goodies we have promised them on the previous pages. Obviously not all your site visitors will want to take you up on your up sell so it s important to give them a clear way to move on to the next page if they don t wish to purchase. 10 Crack the Internet Code Key No 4: The Power of Follow Up Building a list with your free offer rather than trying to sell as your first touch with a prospect allows you to generate a relationship with the people who have put their hand up to say that they are interested in your area of expertise, your products and/or services. You get the opportunity to nurture and educate them and build trust so that when you do make offers there is a high probability of their success because you are not marketing to strangers they feel like they already know you. This way we become a welcome guest rather than an unwanted pest. All successful Internet Marketers (without exception) know that the money is in the lifetime value of the client, not in one off sales. If you are not following up with your prospects and clients you are potentially leaving a huge amount of money on the table. Having a large list or herd with whom you have a good relationship enables you to make good value offers and generate income on a predictable basis. Marketing to your existing leads and clients is nearly always more cost effective than the costly process of continually trying to get new clients. They respect your information, they respect your recommendations because you have something they don t and it is usually information, knowledge about a specific subject. You are an authority in their eyes. So you now need to develop or acquire the rights to products and services that meet your market s wants and needs. These products and services will be your offers for the list. A good way to structure the offers to your list can be using the ascension model. This means that you start off with low price ticket items and build up to have larger priced back end ticket items over time. We also recommend that you build in continuity (residual income) over time. This is where you make the sale once and get paid for it over and over again like with a monthly membership site. Continuity income is one of the key aspects of all successful business and what we like to refer to as the 8th wonder of the world.

11 Crack the Internet Code Key No 5: The Power of Targeted Traffic You can be walking down a quiet side street in a big city and stumble into a shop and think this place is awesome but also notice that there is no one there. The reason why this is the case is because they are missing one essential ingredient, which is Traffic. The same is true online, you can have the best online free site, but if no one knows about it or if you are not getting many visitors it is not going to contribute really well towards your drinking of cocktails on the beach from those glasses with the little umbrellas in them. So, we can safely say that traffic is an essential ingredient in this Successful Internet code. But, not all traffic is equal in terms of its effectiveness. What we want is highly targeted traffic who are interested in our product or service and who preferably visit our site and are pre disposed to buy. In terms of converting sales, visitors who visit your site following hearing you speak to them in person or on stage definitely has the highest conversion ratio and should be encouraged where ever possible. But not everyone is in a position to talk on their feet, so let s look at some of the online options you have available. Main Online Traffic Options (the big hitters): Pay Per Click (PPC) Banner Advertising (Media Buys) Organic Search Engine Optimization Social Media Article Marketing Pay Per Click is our favourite traffic source because it so targeted. Let s focus on it in this section as it is where you will get your biggest wins. Pay Per Click is a great place to start any traffic strategy because you can literally turn it on and off like a tap. The most common and best PPC is Google Adwords. These are the listings that turn up either at the top of Google under the words Sponsored Listings or on the right hand side.

12 PPC, and in particular Google Adwords is the most perfect advertising mechanism ever developed in the history of the internet. The reason we say this is when someone does a Google search they are actively looking in the Google Search engine for products or services that solve the problem they are experiencing right now and having your Ad on that front page at the time they are looking can solve their problem and give you a new customer at the same time. People searching the web simply click your ad to make a purchase or learn more about you and your products or services. A great thing about this system is that you only pay for your ad if someone clicks on it. How much you pay for an ad is usually only a couple of cents, but it is directly related to the amount of Adwords competition in your niche and your knowledge and skill as an Adwords marketer to write relevant and appealing ads. The reality is that never before in the history of Advertising and Marketing has it been possible to spend such a small amount of money, write a couple of ads, and get instant access to millions of people searching for your product or service in such a short period of time. The other main Pay Per Click traffic options you have at your disposal are Yahoo Search Marketing and Microsoft AdCenter. These are Yahoo and Microsoft s versions of Adwords. The advantage of these two pay per click advertising tools for you is they have less competition, so quite often you will find you will get more cost effective advertising here. The downside though is there are less people in these search engines, so they result in less traffic. Facebook Pay Per Click ads are the ads that appear on the right hand side of Facebook. This is a great way of getting a truck load of traffic. The downside of this traffic compared to other pay per click traffic tools is that they are not actively searching to solve a problem, so our experience has been that this traffic doesn t convert into sales as easily as the Google, Yahoo and Microsoft PPC traffic.
