3 Professor Jean Bonvin President «Music has been the language of life par excellence throughout the ages, unfettered by time and space.» Committed as always to the pursuit of excellence, the Crans-Montana Classics 2015 summer edition will offer prestigious musical encounters with the Valaisian Alps in the background. From 2nd to 15th August, internationally renowned orchestras and top-tier soloists, world famous teachers and young prodigies will be bringing the most beautiful pages in the classical repertoire to life on the Haut-Plateau for the pleasure of music-lovers. For the fourth consecutive year, led by Maestro Shlomo Mintz, young musicians will have a unique opportunity during the Master Classes to learn from the greatest violin teachers in the world. Passion, the search for excellence and the desire to surpass oneself are essential elements of the Master Class philosophy of Shlomo Mintz and his colleagues Zakhar Bron, Hagaï Shaham and Cihat Askin. As part of this exceptional learning opportunity, the young soloists will also perform during the free «off» concerts, creating enriching and stimulating experiences that are shared every year with a wider and appreciative audience. A first on the Haut-Plateau: comic opera Master Classes will be held with the actor and stage author Jérôme Deschamps, who has been Artistic Director of the Paris Opéra Comique since The Crans-Montana Classics team is looking forward to welcoming you to the Haut-Plateau in August and would like to take this opportunity to warmly thank its patrons, sponsors and friends for their unwavering loyalty and generous support. Maestro Shlomo Mintz Artistic Director In a world of turbulence and conflict it is more than ever the responsibility of each and every one of us to promote culture and the arts, which are forces for harmony and peace. In the life of a musician, serving the great composers is an immense privilege and sharing musical emotions with the audience is an immense joy. But I also feel that passing on the love of music to future generations is a noble mission, a natural commitment and an important duty. This is why I place so much importance on the influence of the Crans-Montana Master Classes, which have encountered huge success from the beginning thanks to prestigious teachers such as Zakhar Bron, Victor Danchenko, Hagai Shaham, Cihat Askin, David Cerone and Sungsic Yang. My hope is that from year to year the financial resources of Crans-Montana Classics will enable it to welcome a growing number of candidates emerging from the major international violin competitions. Over the years I have had the good fortune to lead many Master Classes on all the continents and to share my passion for the violin and for music with young virtuosos. Today I take a certain pride in contributing in my own way to promoting the image of Crans-Montana throughout the world. 4 5

The Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana (OFI) was founded about 30 years ago and features a vast repertoire of melodramatic, symphonic, choral and chamber music, but also more contemporary and less mainstream productions, OFI is above all characterized by the many-sidedness of its interpretations. The symphonic and opera production performed by OFI is very substantial: it includes the most famous and consolidated Italian popular tracks, but also a less usual repertoire and contemporary titles. OFI is - among other things - famous for a tour of Italian music in Belgium and the Netherlands, with the aim of spreading the national culture with the approval of the Italian Government. OFI has collaborated with worldwide renowned orchestra leaders. However, he also likes to approach the audience directly with projects that highlight the orchestra s extreme flexibility and modernity. OFI was involved in the formation of an orchestra of members of the YouTube community, in Chosen by the London Symphony Orchestra to represent Italy with the National RAI Orchestra from Turin and in cooperation with the most important orchestras from 23 countries around the world, OFI showed the ability of its musicians with the creation of audio-visual tutorials intended for the general public. In consideration of the numerous calls by the major opera houses and theaters of national tradition, Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana represents today one of the greatest orchestras on the market in terms of ductility, quality and flexibility. 20 The Silesian Chamber Orchestra (SCO) was established in 1981 by Professor Jan Wincenty Hawel, composer and conductor, who was its artistic manager for many years. At present the orchestra operates under the leadership of Robert Kabara, a virtuoso of violin and a conductor who mastered his skills under the supervision of maestro Jerzy Maksymiuk.
