14 2002 File size too big loading Blackboard Students did not have computers-- printed materials Faculty little regard for consistency 2006 Laptop requirements for students Review of all Blackboard courses-- consistency Guest access--most current content & cross-departmental review of courses

16 ISSUES FOR MEDIASITE IMPLEMENTATION & SUSTAINABILITY Review of lecture capture began in 2004; TP = New building Conducted a needs comparison of systems Required on-site evaluation of the system

17 2010: Not many student barriers Began using in 2006 Lectures captured & streamed while presented Special events captured (graduation, white coat) Can monitor who watched, when, & how often Accommodate different learning styles Access content 24x7 2010: Faculty barriers Concern students not attending lectures (**Attendance policy**) Difficult to lecture to an empty room Lectures open to everyone viewing **Bring faculty along

22 2008: Student issues Introduced in 2008 Apprehension with the technologyearly training Double the amount of work--at school, then at home 2010: Faculty issues DDS faculty slow to transition to using second life Embraced by DH faculty Very amenable to teaching behavioral concepts Great for small group discussion (more rooms)
