3 Savings accounts Shares Shares represent equity in Évangéline-Central Credit Union and form part of your own personal wealth. These funds are yours, they appear on your regular statement and are refundable upon ownership cancellation. A minimum of $5.00 must be maintained in your Shares account at all times Customer-owners are equal in share requirement Shares are refundable upon ownership cancellation Shares are subject to dividends which may be declared based on the Credit Union's earnings, as decided by the Board Of Directors Chequing privileges, cards, pre-authorized and payments are not permitted on this account. SmartSave This is a daily interest savings account that you can use for your day to day transactions. Interest is calculated on a tiered level on your closing daily balance and is paid to the account at the end of each month. There are no cheque privileges. You will receive five free pre-authorized, over-the-counter or ICU withdrawals per month. Youth Account & Student Deposit Program This youth account is designed specifically for students in kindergarten through grade 12. The account consists of one SmartSave savings account with a preferred rate. There are no service charges for deposits or withdrawals on this account and a debit card is available. Each week, a staff member goes to Bloomfield & Evangeline Schools and every second week to Ellerslie School to pick up deposits made by students to their accounts. Prizes are awarded on occasion throughout the school year. 3

4 Chequing accounts Personal Chequing Account This account is suited to members who require the convenience of a chequing account but do not require all the services provided by a package plan. A minimum maintenance fee of $1.25 applies. No interest is paid on this account. See package plans for additional options and services available. Business Chequing Account A minimum maintenance fee of $2.25 applies. No interest is paid on this account. A printed monthly statement with cheque images is provided for pick-up in-branch at no cost. There is also no charge for a deposit, a cash order or our payroll service. US Chequing Account (Personal & Business) This account applies to members who deal with US currency on a regular basis. This type of account permits you to make US cash or cheque withdrawals from your account directly at the Credit Union, purchase US Traveller's cheques, US drafts and US wires without any conversion fees. You cannot attach a Debit Card or a Global Payment MasterCard to this account. This account cannot be accessed at an ATM or by Direct Payment. MemberDirect is available for inquiries only (to view transactions on the account). US coins are not accepted for deposits. There are no certified cheque privileges on this account. A minimum maintenance fee of $2.00 applies on a personal account and $5.00 on a business account. Daily Interest Chequing Applies to a personal or business account. A minimum monthly maintenance fee of $2.25 applies. This account pays interest on a tiered level. You receive 1 free cheque, pre-authorized, over-thecounter or ICU withdrawal per $1,000 minimum balance. Personalized Cheque Orders A variety of personal and business cheques are available to suit your individual personality. You can customize your order by adding your business logo. Computerized cheques for your business are also available. Please ask the receptionist for more details. 4

5 Package accounts Student Plan This account is designed for students attending their post secondary education on a full time basis. Proof of full time student status is required at time of enrollment. The plan will be in effect for the duration of their studies. 11 Card Services Debit Card Your debit card can be used at ATMs to access your accounts. You may also use it on the Interac direct payment system. You have the flexibility to choose your own 4 digit PIN number. Also, you may choose to add our Choice Rewards points program (see page 15) to your debit card if you already have it on one of our MasterCards. Get 10 points for each transaction of $20 or more. Global Payment MasterCard The GLOBAL PAYMENT MasterCard card offers you the convenience, flexibility and worldwide global acceptance of a traditional MasterCard credit card. GLOBAL PAYMENT MasterCard can be used anywhere MasterCard is accepted including shopping online and accessing cash at an ATM. But, unlike the traditional MasterCard credit card, the funds are automatically moved from your credit union account to pay off the balance after the transaction is completed. GLOBAL PAYMENT MasterCard is a convenient extension of your account. Gold GLOBAL PAYMENT MasterCard can be used anywhere MasterCard is accepted including shopping online and accessing cash at an ATM. But, unlike the traditional Gold MasterCard credit card, the funds are automatically moved from your credit union account to pay off the balance after the transaction is completed. Gold GLOBAL PAYMENT MasterCard is a convenient extension of your account and is only available through your credit union. 13 MasterCard Cards A MasterCard card provides an excellent and convenient way to access revolving credit. Minimum monthly payment amount is 3% of your outstanding balance. Buy now and pay later with no interest charges if account is paid off within 21 days of the statement date. Very competitive interest rates are offered. For all your credit needs, we offer a wide variety of MasterCard cards with PayPass payment functionality. 14 Card Services Business MasterCard credit card The Business MasterCard is perfect for small businesses and corporate members who want financial convenience and control. Features: Choose between two different payment methods: Consolidated Pay - one main control account for the business, and one sub-account for each employee Individual Pay - an individual account is created for each employee Statements are mailed directly to each cardholder and for Consolidated Pay, a summary statement is mailed to the business Cash Back Program option is available Balance protection You have the option to add balance protection insurance to your credit card. With this insurance, your minimum monthly payment will continue to be paid if your earnings are affected by: *Job loss * Disability * Illness * Accident * Loss of life The premium is 90 cents for every $100 of current monthly balance. 17 Investments Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) A RRSP is an excellent investment option you can use to save for your retirement. All contributions to a RRSP are tax deductible (within your annual prescribed limits). The minimum deposit required to open a fixed RRSP is $500. RRSP Investment types include: Fixed redeemable or non-redeemable Variable with a tiered interest rate level Index-Linked : invest in stock markets without any risk to your principal A Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD) automates the saving process for you. Making small, more frequent, contributions to your retirement plan is more manageable and will earn more interest throughout the year. Best Rate Guarantee We offer the best rate guarantee on all our fixed rate RRSP products during the annual RRSP campaign (first 60 days of each year). Deposit early and if our rates increase before the deadline, we will automatically increase your deposit rate. Évangéline-Central Credit Union is a member of the Credit Union Deposit Insurance Corporation (CUDIC), which provides 100% coverage on all registered investments with Évangéline- Central Credit Union. Registered Retirement Income Fund(RRIF) A RRIF is what you transfer your RRSP to when you wish to draw an income from your retirement savings. The minimum deposit required to open a RRIF is $500. We offer variable or fixed rate RRIFs and we can tailor an income stream to meet your specific requirements. You can choose to be paid directly into your credit union account either monthly, quarterly, semiannually or annually. 17

18 Investments High Interest Savings Account (HISA) A great way to save! This non-registered savings plan offers an excellent rate with withdrawal flexibility. Benefits: Tiered interest rate for deposits under and over $5,000 Easy to manage with free transfers to and from your Évangéline-Central accounts through MemberDirect, TeleService and Mobile Web Banking Interest is calculated on the daily closing balance and paid monthly $5.00 charge for each cash withdrawal, pre-authorized payment, direct payment, in-branch transfer, ATM withdrawals and all methods of bill payments. Term Deposit A term deposit is just what the name implies an amount of money deposited for a specific term. Both redeemable (you may cash-in at any time with an interest penalty) and nonredeemable (locked-in until date of maturity) terms are available from 30 days to 5 years. This account is beneficial if you have a specific amount you wish to lock in for a certain amount of time. By locking in for a specific term, you will receive a better interest rate than a regular savings account. Rates are known at time of deposit and are fixed for the full term. Funds are held on deposit for a specific period of time 30 days to 5 years. Minimum deposit is $500 Choose between Redeemable and Non-Redeemable Interest is accrued daily and paid monthly to a related account Prime account holders qualify for 1/4% bonus interest rate on a minimum deposit of $5,000. over one year. 18

19 Investments AgriInvest AgriInvest helps producers manage small income declines. Each year, producers can make a deposit into an AgriInvest account, and receive a matching contribution from federal and provincial governments. Producers have the flexibility to withdraw the funds at any time to cover small margin declines or for risk mitigation and other investments. AgriInvest is part of the Growing Forward suite of federalprovincial-territorial Business Risk Management programs. Growing Forward is a commitment to Canada s agriculture sector that s focused on achieving results, reflects input from across the sector, and delivers programs that are simple, more effective and tailored to local needs. Monthly Savings Plan (MSP) Looking for a convenient way to save for that special purchase or yearly bill? Earn more money and reach your savings goal sooner with a Monthly Savings Plan. Setup a MSP by convenient weekly, bi-weekly or monthly debits. Your account earns compounded monthly interest at a special interest rate. This plan is locked-in with a one year maturity date from the date of your first deposit. However, you may collapse your plan at anytime by request. A $5 fee will apply to cancel the plan before the maturity date. Cards and pre-authorized payments are not permitted on this savings account. Mutual Funds A complete line of Ethical Funds and Credential TM Portfolio Funds are offered through Credential Financial Strategies. See page 16 for additional information. Mutual funds are offered through Credential Asset Management Inc. Unless otherwise stated, mutual fund securities and cash balances are not covered by the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation or by any other government deposit insurer that insures deposits in credit unions. Mutual funds are not guaranteed, their values change frequently and past performance may not be repeated. 20 Investments Index-Linked Index-Linked term deposits are fixed term deposits that pay a return based on the performance of the stock market. No matter what happens to the stock market, you are guaranteed the return of your principal when your deposit matures. You have the security of knowing that your principal is protected. You also have the potential to earn a return in excess of a standard term deposit. There are no fees or commission and they are RRSP eligible. Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) A RESP is a government approved plan for the purpose of providing post-secondary education funding for a beneficiary. The contributions to a RESP are not tax deductible however, the income earned within the plan is not taxed until it is withdrawn. The government will contribute 20% annually on the first $2,500 deposited into a RESP. Some restrictions apply. Inquire for more details. Tax Free Savings Account (TFSA) The TFSA is a registered savings account that allows you to earn investment income tax-free inside the account. Quick facts: Interest earned in a TFSA is exempt from taxes No income tax to pay when contributions are withdrawn Contribution limit is $5,000 per year Contributions are not tax deductible Investment product options available TFSA-HISA 1 to 5 year Non-Redeemable Term Deposit 3 and 5 year Index-Linked Term Deposits For more information, visit our website or

21 Lending Personal Loans Évangéline-Central Credit Union provides a full range of lending services designed specifically to satisfy all our members needs. Personal loans are available for any worthwhile purpose. Flexible payment plans are designed to meet your individual cash flow stream. Life, disability and critical illness insurances are available at low rates. You can receive a discount on the interest rate if you fully secure the loan with certain investments at Évangéline-Central Credit Union. Business Loans Évangéline-Central Credit Union provides a full range of lending services designed specifically to satisfy all our business members needs. Flexible payment plans are designed to meet your individual cash flow stream. Student Loans We offer student loans and lines of credit to our members attending post-secondary education (upon approval). These are not government approved loans. They are personal loans where monthly interest payments are required while the student is at school. Payments of principal and interest start after the course is complete or that the student ends their studies. Mortgages Variable or fixed, conventional or high ratio, you have flexibility and choice at your credit union. Our mortgages are designed to meet your needs and our mortgage experts will guide you through the mortgage process. Competitive rates; Pre-approvals available; Low cost life, disability, critical illness and loss of employment insurances available; No application fee; Weekly, biweekly, or monthly repayment schedules; Property tax amount can be collected each month; Financing available for 95% with CMHC insurance. 21

22 Lending & Insurances Line of Credit (LOC) Suite of products This product handles those situations that demand cash now not later. We offer: HOME EQUITY LOC (HELOC) : Your home is used as security on this type of loan and you can qualify from a minimum of $10,000 to a maximum of $50,000 of equity. Attach a Choice Rewards Gold Global Payment MasterCard free for the first year (first two cards only). PRESTIGE LOC :You can qualify from $5,000 to $35,000 unsecured. Attach a Choice Rewards Gold Global Payment MasterCard free for the first year (first two cards only). POCKET MONEY LOC :You can qualify up to $5,000. Line of Credit Insurance You can help secure your family s financial freedom with life, disability and critical illness Line of Credit Insurance. If you have a Line of Credit of $50,000 or less, you are automatically pre-qualified. If your Line of Credit is over $50,000, there are only a few health questions to answer. Joint coverage is available. The cost of the insurance is very minimal. Ask for a quote and more details today. Reduce your interest rate by 0.50% when you sign-up for Choice Rewards points program. Reduce your interest rate by an additional 0.50% when you add insurances to your Line of Credit. Member Term Life Insurance This level term coverage is only available on commercial lines of credit.
