1 Internship and Job Opportunities Nonprofit Management Association November 3, 2015 DYO Internship at the Community Foundation of Morgan County Design-Your-Own Internship! The Community Foundation of Morgan County (CFMC) is undergoing a significant period of growth and seeks motivated, self-starting students to help identify and solve complex issues. This paid spring semester internship involves flexible hours and an opportunity for both collaboration and independent work. It is a unique chance to Design-Your-Own Internship: provide value to the CFMC while developing your own areas of interest. We are looking for students with some of the following interests and competencies. There is substantial room for personalization within and outside of these subsets, however. Process & Program Evaluation Database Design & Management Fundraising & Donor Development Communications & Web Development Nonprofit Finance & Grant-making Do you crave real-world application for the theories you re learning in class? The SPEA Dean s Internship program is a selective opportunity developed through collaboration between the Career Development Office (CDO), Dean John Graham, and a variety of SPEA partner organizations. Internships with these select organizations are available to eligible current SPEA undergraduate and graduate students at IU Bloomington. POSITION DESCRIPTION The Controller will serve as part of an integrated team of professionals working to achieve the mission of the Community Foundation. In this role, the Controller will take the lead in defining and implementing the processes, as well as maintaining the financial infrastructure, needed to support substantial growth over the next decade. She or he will help build and manage effective and streamlined systems to support the efficient and productive operation of the organization. The Controller reports to the President and CEO and is responsible for the management of the financial functions of the Foundation, including fund accounting, payroll, accounts payable, financial analysis, reporting, and audit support. This professional will also staff the Finance and Investment Committee in its oversight of investment activity, financial performance and the budget. 3 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service - Grant Deadline Nov. 9 Do you have a service project idea for Dr. King Day? The City of Bloomington Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration Commission has funding to support community service and educational projects which will take place on or near the King holiday, which is Jan. 18. The deadline is 5 p.m. on Nov. 9. Organizations and individuals are invited to submit proposals for projects that are dynamic and relevant, that combine meaningful service or education and thoughtful reflection, and that provide volunteers with opportunities for sustained service and ongoing community involvement. Apply online at or contact Michael Shermis at (812) or (www.bloomington.in.gov/mlk) Chocolate Walk Fundraiser - Nov. 14 Volunteers who can help with the Brown County Humane Society's annual Chocolate Walk in beautiful Nashville, Indiana would be very much appreciated! In this fun event, ticket holders stroll through Nashville, visiting the shops and restaurants and collecting chocolate treats along the way. Volunteers take morning or afternoon shifts to check tickets at the shops. This is an important fundraiser for the Humane Society each year. Minimum age is 18. Please contact Erika Imhoof at (812) or (www.bchumane.org) Handy Person Stepping Stones is seeking an experienced volunteer to assist with general household maintenance, who could assist them on an as-needed basis for 4-5 hours a month. Stepping Stones operates from five apartments, which require a certain amount of regular maintenance that is not covered by the apartment complex. Volunteer should expect requests such as fixing doors and blinds, making light cosmetic repairs, maintaining dishwashers, spackling, and replacing and installing window screens. Volunteers are requested to commit to six months. Minimum age is 21. Please contact Stepping Stones at (812) or (www.steppingstones-inc.org) Thanksgiving Meal - Nov. 14 In collaboration with local community organizations, schools and parents, Cry of the Children seeks to help youth obtain the tools they need to build and maintain successful relationships with parents, teachers and the larger community. Programs currently include a Step Team and they are working to form a robotics team. On Nov. 14, they will be hosting their 9th annual community Thanksgiving meal. Volunteers are invited to assist with cooking, setting up, greeting diners, serving meals, cleaning up and fellowship. The event will be held at the Salvation Army, 111 N. Rogers Street. Minimum age is 18. Candidate should have strong written

4 and oral communication skills in English, and must show initiative and exhibit professionalism. Experience with WordPress, building websites, and marketing is preferred. The communications volunteer works closely with the Communications Manager on outreach, marketing, social media, research, and special events. Minimum age is 18.
