2 Meeting current and future market demands Label printers today face run lengths that are continuously getting shorter. The shorter product life cycles, legislation, individualization and more efficient inventory management increase the number of short run jobs. Nowadays approximately 35% of the production jobs are less than labels. Instead of printing those short run jobs on a conventional label press, digital printing is the most efficient way to process the labels. 2

The Stork Prints DSI digital label printer achieves print speeds up to 35m/min. while converting at 1 single pass. The DSI 4330L gives you a true value for money proposition. With its high productivity (almost 700 m 2 /hour) and superior TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) the DSI enables you to cost-effectively print high quality short run jobs. Digital (inkjet) proofing system for the graphics market Besides the experience in inkjet for textile printing Stork Prints also has a long history of inkjet printing in the graphics market. In 1993 Stork Prints started a partnership with US chemicals concern DuPont which resulted in the launch of the first Digital Cromalin Series color proofing system. 4 Integrated total system Having more than 20 years of experience with complete inkjet systems for the textile and graphic (proofing) markets and more than 15 years experience in supplying total solutions for rotary screen printing in the label printing market, developing a digital label printer was a logical next step for Stork Prints. The broad in-house knowledge and experience of inkjet systems was complemented with the strengths of leading suppliers in the industry. By understanding all the elements of inkjet printing Stork Prints was able to develop a reliable UV digital inkjet label production machine with a superior performance. Thus the Stork Prints DSI digital label printer was born. A smart, total integrated system. 4

5 Unique printing quality The Stork Prints DSI uses Drop-on-Demand (DOD) inkjet heads. The native resolution of these heads are 360 dpi. Depending on the level of greyscales an apparent resolution of more than 1000 dpi can be achieved. This, together with the large color gamut and the high color strength results in an unique printing quality. Besides astonishing pictures, fine details, smooth tonal values and very small type texts can be printed on the DSI. The unique printing quality allows you to print high quality labels for virtually all market segments. Even print features that are in conventional printing only available by hybrid printing technologies, become accessible. 6 6 Stork Prints in-house ink production DSI Digital UV Label Inks are produced at Stork Prints in Boxmeer. These UV curable inks are developed to match all the system elements of the Stork Prints DSI ensuring an optimal printing quality and performance. The inks are developed to create a large color gamut and a great color strength. The DSI Digital UV Label Inks also have good scratch resistance and a good light fastness. This enables an even larger application range. Excellent TCO per printed label The costs of using the Stork Prints DSI are purely based on the real ink usage. There are no click costs or other parameters that determine the variable costs. There is also no comprising in filling the drum (nesting). The combination of real ink usage allocation and the high productivity of the DSI results in an excellent TCO per label for very short runs up to runs of more than labels. Semi-rotary in-line converting of the labels reduces the total cost of ownership even further.

7 Modular hybrid system The Stork Prints DSI comes in different configurations. Machine configurations from stand-alone digital printing machines up to complete digital printing lines with in-line converting are possible. The digital printing module is designed in such a way that it can be integrated in virtually every machine configuration. It also enables you to combine the digital UV inkjet with conventional printing technologies. The standard digital printing line with in-line converting, the DSI 4330L, comes with the digital printing module, a semi-rotary UV Flexo station, semi-rotary die-cutting, slitting and matrix removal. 8 Substrate flexibility The Stork Prints DSI Digital UV Label Inks have a good printing performance on a large variety of label stock which further extends the application capabilities. Suitable label stock include standard paper and filmic material, supported and unsupported. Besides that no standard pre-coating or pre-treating of the material is needed, only in-line corona. This results in lower material costs in comparison to the toner based digital label printing machines. 8 Easy to operate The DSI printer is operated via a user-friendly touch screen integrated into the digital printing module. The straightforward software and the intuitive design of the control panel allow for a comfortable operation of the press and rapid switching between jobs. Service and application support We offer a full service package ranging from installation to application support and training. Our team of experts also provides in-depth advice on specific production related matters on site. Stork Prints also has a Technology Centre where customers can perform print trails on the Stork Prints DSI.
